Ron Kavana
Ron Kavana (born 25 December 1950) is an Irish singer, songwriter, guitarist and band leader. Born in the County Cork town of Fermoy, he is the son of an Irish father and an American mother from Chicago with Cajun roots. Performing with a lengthy list of bands, Kavana has performed with influential musicians from the worlds of Celtic music, British soul, blues, rhythm & blues, rock, Irish folk and folk-rock, and worldbeat music. His ''Galway to Graceland'' album was described as an album of blues, Tex Mex, country, rock, cajun, and occasionally Irish influenced music. A talented songwriter, Kavana has written songs exploring history and politics, as well as drinking, dancing, and playing music. Chiswick Records
Chiswick Records was a British independent record label. Established in 1975, Chiswick was the "first true ' indie' label to be established in Britain for nearly a decade". The label has been described as "significant" in the " punk era". It released some of the earliest records recorded by The Hammersmith Gorillas, The Count Bishops, Motörhead, Joe Strummer’s The 101ers, The Damned, Skrewdriver, Billy Bragg, Kirsty MacColl, and Shane MacGowan. History The label was started by Ted Carroll and Roger Armstrong in 1975 as a subsidiary of Rock On Records. Shortly after Trevor Churchill joined, it was incorporated into Swift Records Ltd. Two years later it entered into a licensing deal with EMI. Subsidiary Ace Records was started in 1978, and Chiswick Records closed in 1983; its back catalogue is still owned by Ace Records Ltd. David Young (guitarist)
David Justin Young (2 May 1949 – 31 August 2022) was an English musician, record producer and sound engineer best known for his playing with the John Cale Band in the 1980s and collaborating with the German band Element of Crime for 35 years. Career Young started his career in the 1970s. He was one of the three sound engineers on David Bowie's Diamond Dogs North American Tour in 1974. He also worked with Duke Ellington. In 1982, he started working with John Cale, initially as a sound engineer (along with David Lichtenstein) on what would become the '' Music for a New Society'' album. He also plays guitar on some songs and joined his live band as a full member soon after. Home Fire
''Home Fire'' is the fourth album by Irish musician/songwriter Ron Kavana. Released in 1991 on the Special Delivery label of Topic Records(and the next year in America on Green Linnet), the album is really a joint project with Terry Woods, formerly of The Pogues. The album features two Kavana/Woods co-writes, including "Young Ned Of The Hill", previously recorded by The Pogues on the album '' Peace and Love''. About half the tracks are performed by Kavana and Woods unaccompanied, the other half with other musicians. In 2009 ''Reconciliation'' was included in Topic's 70 year anniversary boxed set ''Three Score and Ten'' as track ten on the fifth CD. Crouch End
Crouch End is an area of North London, approximately from the City of London in the western half of the borough of Haringey. It is within the Hornsey postal district (N8). It has been described by the BBC as one of "a new breed of urban villages" in London. Location Crouch End lies between Harringay to the east; Hornsey, Muswell Hill and Wood Green to the north; Finsbury Park, Stroud Green and Archway to the south; and Highgate to the west. Terry Woods
Terence Woods (born 4 December 1947 in Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish folk musician, songwriter/singer and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his membership in such folk and folk- rock groups as The Pogues, Steeleye Span, Sweeney's Men, The Bucks, Dr. Strangely Strange and the short-lived Orphanage, with Phil Lynott. Woods also played with his wife Gay, billed initially as The Woods Band and later as Gay and Terry Woods. Philip Gaston
Phil Gaston is an Irish songwriter. He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, moved to London in the 1970s and later moved back to Ireland. He was the manager for Shane MacGowan's first band, the Nips. He wrote "Navigator" for The Pogues, "Tommy's Blue Valentine" for Pride of the Cross (a band that included future Pogues Cait O'Riordan and Daryl Hunt), "Hell or England" (a track on the b-side of the 12" version of The Men They Couldn't Hang single "Greenback Dollar", also available on the CD version of the Night of a Thousand Candles album), and the lyrics for both "The Lights Of Little Christmas" and "Game Over" for Sean Tyrrell. Michael Molloy (born 11 July 1966) is an Australian comedian, writer, producer, actor and television and radio presenter who has been active in radio, television, stand-up and film.
