Thierry Tidrow
Thierry Tidrow (born 29 September 1986) is a Franco-Ontarian composer. He currently lives in Berlin, Germany. In 2014, he was awarded the Jules-Léger Prize for New Chamber Music, for his work, ''Au found du Cloître humide'', commissioned by Continuum Contemporary Music (Toronto). In the same year he also received first prize at the SOCAN awards for his piece ''Violon et clarinette'', and third prize for his opera ''Less Truth More Telling''. In 2015, the Akademie der Künste der Welt in Cologne commissioned his ''Manifeste Assi,'' for clarinet, flute, cello and reciter, based on texts by Natasha Kanapé Fontaine and Joséphine Bacon. This work was premiered in Cologne by Liz Hirst, Heather Roche and Niklas Seidl, with Tidrow and Fontaine reciting. In 2016, the New Talents Biennale Cologne commissioned his work, ''Styroporös'' for ensemble hand werk. Franco-Ontarian
Franco-Ontarians (french: Franco-Ontariens or if female, sometimes known as ''Ontarois'' and ''Ontaroises'') are Francophone Canadians that reside in the province of Ontario. Most are French Canadians from Ontario. In 2016, the Government of Ontario calculated that there are approximately 622,415 francophones residing in the province. The majority of Franco-Ontarians in the province reside in Eastern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Central Ontario, although small francophone communities may be found in other regions of the province. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Classical music, Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Jules Léger Prize For New Chamber Music
The Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music is a Canadian contemporary classical music award given to composers in recognition of quality new works of chamber music. Granted annually since 1978 (with the exception of 1984 and 1990 when no prize was given), the prize is won through a competition administered by the Canadian Music Centre. Prior to 1991, the competition had been administered by the Canadian Music Council. The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) is a Canadian performance rights organization that represents the performing rights of more than 135,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers. Natasha Kanapé Fontaine
Natasha Kanapé Fontaine (born 1991) is an Innu poet and actress. Born in Pessamit, Quebec, Fontaine first became noticed in 2012 as part of the Montreal poetry scene. Her first poetry collection, ''Do Not Enter My Soul in Your Shoes'', earned her the 2013 Prize of the Society of Francophone Writers of America; her second, ''Manifeste Assi'', was released in 2014 and debuted at the Étonnants Voyageurs festival. In 2016 she was a guest of honour at the Rimouski Book Fair, alongside Deni Ellis Béchard; the same year, the National Film Board of Canada announced funding for 3 projects as part of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Canada, including ''#Legacies150'', a photo-essay series Fontaine is contributing to.
