Theresa Thibodeau
Theresa Thibodeau (born June 9, 1975) is an American politician who served as a member of the Nebraska Legislature from 2017 to 2019. In November 2021, Thibodeau entered the Republican primary for Governor of Nebraska. Early life and career Thibodeau was born Theresa Sanderson on June 9, 1975, in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Capistrano Valley High School and graduated in 1993. She attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 1996 to 1998, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Political career Nebraska State Legislature Thibodeau was appointed to represent District 6, in Omaha, by Governor Pete Ricketts in October 2017. The seat became vacant following the resignation of the incumbent Republican, Joni Craighead. Thibodeau was encouraged by Pete Rickets to submit her name for the position, which she did on October 13, two weeks after the deadline to submit on September 29. Joni Craighead
Joni Craighead (born August 11, 1954) is a politician from the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. In 2014, she was elected to the Nebraska Legislature, representing a district in Omaha. She resigned in 2017, before the end of her term. Early life and professional career Craighead was born Joni James, on August 11, 1954, in Nebraska City. She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1976. In 1976, she received a B.S. in medical technology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center; in 1982, a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Kansas. In 1984, Craighead founded an image-consulting company; in 1996, she wrote a book, ''First Impressions: Tips to Enhance Your Image'', with a number of tips to help women interested in "enhancing both your inner and outer beauty". 2022 Nebraska Gubernatorial Election
The 2022 Nebraska gubernatorial election took place on November 8, 2022, to elect the next governor of Nebraska. Incumbent Republican Party (United States), Republican governor Pete Ricketts was term-limited and unable to seek a third term. In the general election, Republican Jim Pillen won the gubernatorial election by a 23-point margin. Nebraska's primary elections were held on May 10. Pillen, the former University of Nebraska system, University of Nebraska Board of Regents chair, won the Republican nomination, while Nebraska Legislature, state senator Carol Blood won the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic nomination. The race took on increased importance in October 2022, when U.S. senator Ben Sasse announced he would resign and Ricketts said he would allow the winner of the gubernatorial election to appoint Sasse's replacement.
