Theodore Aplin
Theodore Ernest Holmes Aplin (1927 – 3 July 1991), known as Ted Aplin, was an Australian botanist who was educated in India and Australia. He spent most of his working life at the Western Australian Herbarium as an identification botanist, also doing administrative work for John Green John Michael Green (born August 24, 1977) is an American author and YouTuber. His books have more than 50 million copies in print worldwide, including ''The Fault in Our Stars'' (2012), which is one of the List of best-selling books#Bet .... Aplin collected more than 6,000 plant specimens for the herbatium, and the genus '' Taplinia'' is named in his honour. Western Australian Herbarium
The Western Australian Herbarium is the state Herbarium, situated in Perth, the capital of Western Australia. It houses a collection of more than 845,000 dried specimens of plants, algae, bryophytes (mosses, liverworts and hornworts), lichens, fungi and slime moulds gathered from 1770 to today throughout Western Australia and from across the globe. It is part of the Government of Western Australia's Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and has responsibility for the description and documentation of the flora of Western Australia. It has the Index Herbariorum code of ''PERTH''. The herbarium forms part of the Australasian Virtual Herbarium. John Green (botanist)
John William Green (born 10 July 1930) is an Australian botanist. Career Green began his botanical career in 1954 as assistant botanist in the Western Australian Herbarium. He remained in that position until 1958, in his final year serving as botanical adviser to phytochemical surveys in the southwest. He then took up a position at the University of New England at Armidale, New South Wales until 1963, when he moved to Canberra, initially as an academic, and after 1966 as a researcher at the Forest Research Institute. In 1970 he moved to Ontario, Canada, taking up a post as professor at the Laurentian University. In 1975, Green returned to Australia, taking on the post of curator to the Western Australian Herbarium. He held that position until 1987. During this time he oversaw the introduction of database systems for management of collections.
