Theodoor () is a masculine given name. It is the Dutch form of Theodore. Short forms of Theodoor are Theo, Dorus, Dirck, and Dirk. Theodoor Boeyermans
Theodoor Boeyermans, Theodor Boeyermans or Theodor Boeijermans (10 November 1620 – January 1678) was a Flemish painter active in Antwerp who painted Baroque history paintings and group portraits informed by the tradition of Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck. Life Theodoor Boeyermans was born in Antwerp as the son of Jan Boeyermans, Dirkszoon, originally from Haarlem who was a long-time resident of Antwerp and Agneta Leermans, a native of Antwerp. His mother was a widow who brought nine children from her first marriage into the family. The father of Boeyermans died in 1624. Boeyermans received his initial education in Antwerp. In 1634 his mother obtained a safe conduct allowing her family to stay in Eindhoven in the Dutch Republic. Here Boeyermans probably obtained a master's degree. Theodoor Gilissen Bankiers was a private bank in the Netherlands that focused on the asset management, portfolio advisory services for wealthy individuals and providing services to independent asset managers. It was merged with Insinger de Beaufort in 2017 to form Insinger Gilissen. The bank had branches in The Hague, Amsterdam, Enschede, Groningen, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. History On 1 February 1881 Theodorus Antonius Josephus Gilissen (1858-1918) founded the ''Theodoor Gilissen Bankiers''. Until 1962 the bank operated as an independent company, then it became a corporation. In 1967 the bank became a part of the ''Bank Mees and Hope'', later MeesPierson. Theodoor Van Rijswijck
Jan Theodoor van Rijswijck ( Antwerp, 7 July 1811 – Antwerp, 7 May 1849) was a Flemish writer. He was an uncle of the politician Jan Van Rijswijck. Biography He did not get much formal education, but his father, a teacher, read the works of Jacob Cats, Joost van den Vondel and other poets to his children. Jan Theodoor van Rijswijck also became a teacher, but being adventurous, he volunteered for the Belgian independence war against the Netherlands in 1830. But the military life did not bode him well, and he obtained permission to leave the army and returned to Antwerp, where he found work as a clerk at a bank. In the meantime he became a champion of the Flemish movement. He urged Hendrik Conscience to write in Dutch rather than in French, and he himself wrote political and satirical songs. Theodoor Van Loon
Theodoor van Loon (1581 or 1582, in Erkelenz – 1649, in Maastricht) was a Flemish Baroque painter. Life Theodoor van Loon traveled twice to Italy, from 1602 to 1608 and from 1628 to 1629. He is known as a follower of Caravaggio. Together with Wenzel Coebergher he completed commissions for Albert VII, Archduke of Austria and his wife Infanta Isabella Clara Eugenia of Spain. He also completed commissions for churches in the region of Brussels, and made an altarpiece for the Basilica of Our Lady of Scherpenheuvel (Mariataferelen, 1623–28). He was friends with Erycius Puteanus, a professor from the University of Leuven. According to Houbraken, his paintings show that he spent his training in Italy. Theodoor Hendrik Nikolaas de Booy (December 5, 1882 – February 18, 1919) was a Dutch-born American archaeologist. Biography De Booy was born as son of a vice admiral in Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands. He was educated at the Royal Naval Institute. At the age of 23, he migrated to the United States where he married Elizabeth Hamilton Smith on March 29, 1909.They had two children. In 1916 he became an American citizen. In 1911 he went to the Bahamas with his wife. During their archaeological fieldwork in the caves and middens they made remarkable discoveries (e.g. a paddle or pottery) from the Pre-Columbian culture of the Lucayan. In the following years he worked for the Heye Museum in New York City. His fieldwork in the Caribbean and in Venezuela made him a prolific expert for the history of the Pre-Columbian Arawak culture. Jan Theodoor Gerard Overbeek (Groningen, January 30, 1911 – February 19, 2007) was a Dutch professor of physical chemistry at the Utrecht University. Early life and education Overbeek was born in Groningen. Overbeek's family moved to Rotterdam in 1913 and to Breda in 1925. Overbeek went to study chemistry (from 1928 to 1933) at the Utrecht University. He spent a year in military service and then worked for two years in Belgium. First year he worked with Jacques Errera at the Université libre de Bruxelles, after that a year with Arend Joan Rutgers at Ghent University. Theodoor Gerard van Lidth de Jeude (8 July 1788 in Tiel – 23 December 1863 in Utrecht) was a Dutch physician, veterinarian, and zoologist and was the first director of the newly established Rijks Veterinary College where Veterinary medicine was first taught in the Netherlands in late 1821.
