Theli (album)
''Theli'' is the fifth studio album by Swedish symphonic metal band Therion. While ''Theli'' stays true to the band's roots in that it has a very dark sound, it is a major turning point in their history. Set, Egyptian god, is shown on the front cover . This was the last album on which Christofer Johnsson sang until 2004's ''Lemuria''. A music video was filmed for the song "To Mega Therion". The song "To Mega Therion" appears in the shockumentary film Traces of Death IV. Therion (band)
Therion (formerly Blitzkrieg) is a Swedish symphonic metal band founded by Christofer Johnsson in 1987. Its name was inspired by the Celtic Frost album '' To Mega Therion''. "To Mega Therion" is Greek for "The Great Beast" and was a title used by occultist Aleister Crowley. Originally a death metal band, Therion adjusted its musical style by adding orchestral elements, including choirs, classical musicians, and even a full orchestra at their concert performances. As a result, they are considered pioneers of the symphonic metal genre. Therion takes its themes for the lyrics from different mythologies and practices, including occultism, magic and ancient traditions and writings. Christofer Johnsson
Christofer Jan Johnsson (born 10 August 1972) is a Swedish musician and producer. He is a founding member and the guitarist for symphonic metal band Therion and was previously a member of Carbonized, Liers in Wait, Messiah, and Demonoid. In 2006, he announced he will no longer sing for Therion – though he will continue as guitarist for the group. He also has his occult vintage rock side project Luciferian Light Orchestra. Inspiration and influences In his childhood, Johnsson enjoyed listening to classical music and gradually became more interested in his father's '50s and '60s rock. Popular music played on the radio in this era generally had a lot of strings in it, and even though much of it did not fall in his taste, it still managed to influence him. The musical term alto, meaning "high" in Italian (Latin: '' altus''), historically refers to the contrapuntal part higher than the tenor and its associated vocal range. Dan-Erland Swanö (born 10 March 1973), also known as Dan "The Man" Swanö, is a Swedish musician and record producer who is currently the vocalist, guitarist, ex-bassist and ex-drummer for the band Nightingale, lately vocalist, keyboardist and drummer for the band Witherscape, as well as the owner of Unisound. He achieved fame as the vocalist and songwriter of progressive death metal band Edge of Sanity. As a multi-instrumentalist he is regarded as influential in the underground melodic death metal, black metal, progressive metal, death metal, progressive rock, and power metal communities. The bass guitar (), also known as the electric bass guitar, electric bass, or simply the bass, is the lowest-pitched member of the guitar family. Piotr Wawrzeniuk
Piotr Wawrzeniuk (born 1971 in Warsaw) is a Polish historian and musician. He is best known as a member of the symphonic metal band Therion, and as a member of Serpent, Carbonized, and The Robots. Music career Wawrzeniuk was a member of Swedish symphonic metal band Therion, of a doom metal side project of Therion and Entombed members—Serpent, Swedish death metal band Carbonized, and Swedish punk rock group The Robots. He was a singer and drummer for Therion between 1992 and 1996. Later he performed as a guest lead vocalist on '' Secret of the Runes'' (2001) bonus tracks, ''Lemuria'' and '' Sirius B'' (2004), and also as a live vocalist during the 20th Year Anniversary Tour in 2007. A cooperation with Joakim Knutsson (Rise and Shine) resulted in creation of Downforce of Doom. Wawrzeniuk released five albums with Stockholm based punk rock band The Robots, beginning in 1991.
