Thea Gagate
Thea Allison Gagate (born July 26, 2000) is a Filipino volleyball player. She is currently playing as a middle blocker for the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles in the Premier Volleyball League. Career Gagate made her first game appearance in the UAAP with the De La Salle Lady Spikers in 2020. The league was later cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the UAAP came back after the league had been cancelled for 2 years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her team finished in 2nd place after losing the finals against the NU Lady Bulldogs. She also received the 1st Best Middle Blocker award that season. In 2023, her team bagged the championship title in the UAAP Season 85 after 5 years of championship drought. The UP Fighting Maroons are the collegiate varsity teams of the University of the Philippines Diliman. The teams play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the Philippines' premier college sports league. The UAAP Season 84 volleyball tournaments was the volleyball event of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines for its 2021–22 school year. This was the first completed tournament since 2019. The men's, boys' and girls' volleyball tournaments were not held due to the pandemic. The games were held at the Mall of Asia Arena. The collegiate men's and women's tournaments began on February 17, 2024. The high school boys' and girls' tournaments began on November 4, 2023. The 2023 Shakey's Super League National Invitationals was the inaugural edition of the national collegiate competition organized by the Shakey's Super League and the second SSL tournament of 2023. The tournament began on July 29 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre. This tournament showcased the top three teams of the recent volleyball tournaments of the NCAA and UAAP, alongside the top two teams from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao that qualified on the regional qualifiers. 2022 Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Championship
The 2022 Shakey's Super League Pre-season Championship was the inaugural edition of the collegiate pre-season competition organized by the Shakey's Super League. It is also the first tournament for the SSL in general and the only such in 2022. The tournament was held on September 24 to November 19, 2022, at Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Manila. It features 18 collegiate teams from the two most prominent collegiate athletics associations in the country — NCAA and UAAP. NU Lady Bulldogs defeated De La Salle Lady Spikers (3–0) in the championship match and crowned as the inaugural champions of the tournament. De La Salle Lady Spikers settled for silver.
