The E!DAL Plant Phenomics And Genomics Research Data Repository
The Plant Genomics and Phenomics Research Data Repository (PGP) is a data publication infrastructure to comprehensively publish multi-domain plant research data. It is hosted at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben, Germany. The repository hosts Digital Object Identifier (DOI) citable datasets that are not being published in public repositories because of their volume or data scope. PGP enables the publication of gigabyte-scale datasets and is registered as a research data repository at FAIRSharing.org, re3data.org and OpenAIRE as a valid EU Horizon 2020 open data archive. PGP fulfills the FAIR data principles—findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable. The PGP repository was created using the e!DAL software infrastructure and applies an on-premises approach to bring and connect data to infrastructure. GigaScience
''GigaScience'' is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that was established in 2012. It covers research and large data-sets that result from work in the biomedical and life sciences. The editor-in-chief is Scott Edmunds. Originally, the journal was co-published by BioMed Central and the Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI). In 2016, it left BioMed Central to form a new partnership between the GigaScience Press department of BGI and Oxford University Press. In 2018, ''GigaScience'' won the Association of American Publishers' PROSE Award for Innovation in journal publishing in the multidisciplinary category. GigaDB and GigaGalaxy In order to host the large data-sets the journal covers, ''GigaScience'' has built and integrated its own disciplinary repository: GigaDB. German Network For Bioinformatics Infrastructure
The 'German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure – de.NBI' is a national, academic and non-profit infrastructure initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research funding 2015-2021. The network provides bioinformatics services to users in life sciences research and biomedicine in Germany and Europe. The partners organize training events, courses and summer schools on tools, standards and compute services provided by de.NBI to assist researchers to more effectively exploit their data. From 2022, the network will be integrated into Forschungszentrum Jülich. History In May 2013, the announcement of funding guidelines for a German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure (de.NBI) was published by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
