''The Woman Racket'' is an extant 1930 Pre-Code talking film produced and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer starring Tom Moore and Blanche Sweet. It is based on a 1928 Broadway play, ''Night Hostess'' by Philip Dunning. In January 2012 the film became available on DVD from the Warner Archive collection home library. Robert Howard Ober (May 10, 1881 – December 7, 1950) was an American stage and silent-screen actor. Early life Robert Howard Ober was born on May 10, 1881, in Bunker Hill, Illinois, to parents Robert Howard Ober Sr. and Joella W. Ober (née Davis). He attended Divoll grade school in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. Career Ober started his theater career in St. Louis, Missouri at the Century Theatre. His first stage appearance was with the Colonel Hopkins Stock Company in the play '' In Mizzoura''. He also played in '' My Friend from India'' and ''Arizona''. Tom London (born Leonard T. Clapman; August 24, 1889 – December 5, 1963) was an American actor who played frequently in B-Westerns. According to ''The Guinness Book of Movie Records'', London is credited with appearing in the most films in the history of Hollywood, according to the 2001 book ''Film Facts'', which says that the performer who played in the most films was "Tom London, who made his first of over 2,000 appearances in '' The Great Train Robbery, 1903''. He used his birth name in films until 1924. Life and career Born in Louisville, Kentucky, London got his start in movies as a props man in Chicago, Illinois. W. Griffith. Sweet remained at Biograph until 1914. Sweet starred in 85 films under Biograph, most of which were one or two reels. 1909 1910 1911 1912 1913 1914 Mutual Film Corporation (1914) Griffith left Biograph in 1914, wanting to continue directing feature films such as Judith of Bethulia.
