The Wildhearts
The Wildhearts are an English Rock music, rock band, formed in 1989 in Newcastle upon Tyne. The band's sound is a mixture of hard rock and melodic pop music, often described in the music press as combining influences as diverse as the Beatles and 1980s-era Metallica. The Wildhearts achieved several top 20 singles and two top 10 albums in Britain, though they also faced difficulties with record companies and many internal problems often relating to drugs and depression. Much of the band's early career was affected by bitter feuds with their record company, East West Records, East West. Throughout the band's history, members have regularly been replaced, with the only constant member being the band's founder, singer and guitarist Ginger (musician), Ginger. Jon Poole
Jonathan Charles Poole (born 16 October 1969) is a British musician, singer, songwriter and producer. A multi-instrumentalist, he is best known for his work as guitarist for Cardiacs and as bass player for the Wildhearts and Lifesigns (band), Lifesigns. Poole is the frontman and main performer of God Damn Whores, co-fronts the Dowling Poole with Willie Dowling, and has released two solo albums. Quireboys
The Quireboys are an English rock band formed in 1984 in London, with strong ties to Newcastle. Originally known as The Choirboys, then The Queerboys, billed as The London Quireboys in the United States and Canada, settling at last with their current name. History 1985–1989: Formation Vocalist Jonathan Gray (commonly referred to as just 'Spike') moved from Newcastle upon Tyne to London when he was 17 years old and met guitarist Guy Bailey in a bar. By the mid-1980s, the two decided to form a rock and roll band, the name chosen for the group was originally 'The Choirboys' taken from the 1977 movie of the same name, but they soon changed it to the Queerboys. Ginger (singer)
Ginger Wildheart (born David Leslie Walls; 17 December 1964), sometimes known simply as Ginger, is an English rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began his professional career as a guitarist in the Quireboys, but is best known as the founder and leader of the Wildhearts. In addition, he has released numerous solo albums and has been involved in many other musical projects. Career Early career Ginger played in many bands including South Shields band the Cups and Beki Bondage's band the Bombshells. He was a member of the English band the Quireboys from 1987 until 1989. Satanic Rites Of The Wildhearts
''Satanic Rites of the Wildhearts'' is the eleventh studio album by British rock band the Wildhearts, released on 7 March 2025 by Snakefarm Records. Background The band's previous album '' 21st Century Love Songs'' (2021) was recorded by a reformed lineup from the Wildhearts' most successful period in the mid-1990s. That lineup split acrimoniously in 2022; band leader Ginger Wildheart took a short hiatus from the band and then assembled an entirely new lineup with former bassist Jon Poole, who had last played with the band in 2018, plus guitarist Ben Marsden and drummer Pontus Snibb. Scott Sorry (born Gerard Scott; October 30, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American singer songwriter. Prior to being a solo artist Scott played with The Wildhearts, Sorry and the Sinatras, Amen and briefly Brides of Destruction. Biography Amen (2003–2005) After playing in a variety of punk bands in Philadelphia, Scott joined US punk rockers Amen on their 2003 Join Or Die tour, playing with the band until late 2005 where he eventually quit the group. Danny McCormack
Danny McCormack (born 28 February 1972) is an English rock musician, best known for several tenures as the bassist and backing vocalist for The Wildhearts. Biography McCormack became the bass player for The Wildhearts at age 19 in 1991, enjoying success during their commercial peak, until the band split in 1997. McCormack went on to form The Yo-Yos with Tom Spencer (formerly of The Lurkers), and the band released an album on Sub Pop Records before splitting in 2000. He re-joined The Wildhearts when they reformed in 2001, but only played with the band sporadically due to drug abuse, and left again in 2003. At the time the group's frontman Ginger Wildheart penned an open letter to ''Kerrang!'' magazine documenting McCormack's drug problems and wished him a complete recovery.
