Australian children's musical group the Wiggles have released sixty-two studio albums, three live albums, eleven compilation albums, two extended plays, thirty-eight singles, two audiobooks, four karaoke albums, fourteen digital albums, two tribute albums, one remix album and thirteen other albums featuring solo group members or characters. Eighteen of the group's albums have been certified by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) as Gold, Platinum and double Platinum. Three of their albums have reached the top 10 on the ARIA Albums Chart. ''The Wiggles'' (1991) was the original line-up's earliest album to be certified by ARIA, achieving Platinum status in 1995. The Wiggles
The Wiggles are an Australian children's music group formed in Sydney in 1991. As of 2022, the group members are Anthony Field, Lachlan Gillespie, Simon Pryce, Tsehay Hawkins, Evie Ferris, John Pearce (entertainer), John Pearce, Caterina Mete and Lucia Field. The Wiggles were founded in 1991 by Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Greg Page (musician), Greg Page and Phillip Wilcher. Wilcher left the group after The Wiggles (album), their first album. Page retired in 2006 due to ill health and was replaced by understudy Sam Moran, but returned in 2012, replacing Moran. At the end of 2012, Cook, Fatt and Page retired and were replaced by Gillespie, Pryce and Emma Watkins. Cook and Fatt retained their shareholding in the group and all three continued to have input into its creative and production aspects, while engaging in occasional reunion performances. ''Yummy Yummy'' is the fourth studio album by Australian children's music group the Wiggles. it was released in 1994 by ABC Music. A companion video was also made in 1994, and it was re-recorded in 1998. The 2021 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on 22 January 2022. It was the 29th annual countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as voted for by listeners of Australian radio station triple j. Australian children's music group the Wiggles was voted into first place with their ''Like a Version'' cover of Tame Impala's "Elephant", making it the first ''Like a Version'' to place first in a Hottest 100. Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat achieved the most entries in the countdown, with both scoring five. On 18 March 2022, triple j confirmed that a compilation album would no longer be released in conjunction with the annual countdown. The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music poll presented by the publicly-funded Australian youth radio station Triple J. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite Music of Australia, Australian and alternative music of the year in an online poll conducted two weeks prior to the new year. The first countdown in 1989 was held in March, and then on various days in January and February until 1998 when it was mostly consistently held on Australia Day. Since 2017, the countdown has been held on the fourth weekend of January due to increasing Australia Day debate, controversy about Australia Day regarding its marking of the History of Australia (1788–1850), colonisation of Australia and dispossession of Indigenous Australians, Indigenous people. Like A Version
''Like a Version'' is a long-running weekly segment on Australian youth radio station Triple J. It involves musicians playing two songs live in the Triple J studio, one of their own songs and then a cover version. The series was created by presenter Mel Bampton in 2004 as part of the ''Mel in the Morning'' program. The title is wordplay on the song " Like a Virgin" by Madonna. Early performances were more intimate, with most covers in the first years featuring only acoustic instruments, but as the segment has evolved, recordings have moved into larger studios to accommodate full bands. The segment has grown in popularity over the years, leading to the release of compilation CDs featuring the covers. All ''Like a Version'' performances are filmed by Triple J and are made available on their YouTube channel. Triple J
Triple J is an Australian government-funded national radio station founded in 1975 as a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). It aims to appeal to young listeners of alternative music, and plays far more Australian content than commercial networks. The station was set up under the Gough Whitlam government, wanting to extend the appeal of the ABC to young Australians. Initially broadcasting as 2JJ or Double Jay from 19 January 1975, it stood apart from commercial stations with its lack of private advertising and its fringe music programming. Following a transition to FM in 1981, the station rebranded as 2JJJ or Triple J as it expanded regionally throughout the 1990s. Elephant (Tame Impala Song)
"Elephant" is a song by Australian musical project Tame Impala, released on 26 July 2012 as the lead single from their second album ''Lonerism'' (2012). The single features artwork from Australian artist Leif Podhajsky, who also created the artwork for ''Innerspeaker'' and the follow-up ''Lonerism''. "Elephant" was covered by children's music group the Wiggles for Australian youth broadcaster Triple J's ''Like a Version'' segment on 5 March 2021, which won the station's Hottest 100 of 2021. Tame Impala is the psychedelic music project of Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker (musician), Kevin Parker. In the recording studio, Parker writes, records, performs, and produces all of the project's music. As a touring act, Tame Impala consists of Parker (vocals, guitar, synthesiser), Dominic Simper (guitar, synthesiser), Jay Watson (synthesiser, vocals, guitar), Cam Avery (bass guitar, vocals, synthesiser), and Julien Barbagallo (drums, vocals).
