John Clayton Mayer ( ; born October 16, 1977) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Born and raised in Fairfield County, Connecticut, Mayer attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but left and moved to Atlanta in 1997 with Clay Cook. Together, they formed a short-lived two-man band called Lo-Fi Masters. After their split, Mayer continued to play local clubs, refining his skills and gaining a following. After his appearance at the 2001 South by Southwest festival, he was signed to Aware Records, and eventually to Columbia Records, which released his first extended play '' Inside Wants Out''. His following two studio albums—'' Room for Squares'' (2001) and '' Heavier Things'' (2003)—performed well commercially, achieving multi-platinum status. Dave O'Donnell is an American record producer, engineer and mixer, known for his work with James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Bettye LaVette, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, John Mayer, Lyle Lovett, Milton Nascimento, Keb' Mo' and Ray Charles. In 1984, O'Donnell began work at Power Station studios in Manhattan, beginning as a runner and working his way up to engineer. Steve Jordan (drummer)
Steve Jordan (born January 14, 1957) is an American musical director, producer, songwriter, and musician. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was a member of the bands for the television shows ''Saturday Night Live'' and ''Late Night with David Letterman''. In the early 1980s, Jordan was a member of the band " Eye Witness", along with Anthony Jackson on bass, and Manolo Badrena on percussion. Since the mid 1980s, Jordan has also been a member of the X-Pensive Winos, the side project of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Jordan and Richards have been production and songwriting partners on many of Richards's solo works. In 2005, he became a member of the John Mayer Trio. Okayplayer is an online hip-hop and alternative music website and community, described by ''Rolling Stone'' as a "tastemaker" and "an antidote to dull promotional Web sites used by most artists". The community was founded by The Roots' drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and author Angela Nissel as a loose musical collective in 1987, and evolved into an online community in 1999. The albums were released from live concert performances across the United States from the tour following the release of Mayer's second album, ''Heavier Things''. "Bigger Than My Body" is the first single released by American singer John Mayer from his second album, '' Heavier Things'' (2003). As a B-side, the single contained a cover of Radiohead's "Kid A" and an original song that was not included on '' Heavier Things'', "Tracing". The intro to the song was generated using an Adrenalinn effects processor developed by Roger Linn. Lyrics John Mayer composed the song after going to a Coldplay concert. He wrote it to explain his desire to write both moving and great music, like what he found in artists like Coldplay, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Pearl Jam.
