''The Victor Borge Show'' is a 30-minute American variety television program that was broadcast live on NBC from February 3, 1951, to June 30, 1951. It was sponsored by Kellogg. Premise The program starred Victor Borge, an "internationally known pianist and comic interpreter of music". Episodes usually included Borge's playing both a straight concert piece and a humorous interpretation. The Phil Engalls Orchestra provided musical support. Episodes also included guest stars who performed and chatted with Borge. Perry Lafferty was the director, with Borge, Eddie Lawrence, and Max Wilk as writers. The program was a mid-season replacement for the ''Hank McCune Show.'' Its network competitors were '' Hollywood Theatre Time'' on ABC and ''The Sam Levenson Show'' on CBS. Victor Borge
Børge Rosenbaum (; 3 January 1909 – 23 December 2000), known professionally as Victor Borge ( ), was a Danish and American actor, comedian, and pianist who achieved great popularity in radio and television in both North America and Europe. His blend of music and comedy earned him the nicknames "The Clown Prince of Denmark," "The Unmelancholy Dane," and "The Great Dane." Borge was a member of the executive committee of the Writers and Artists for Peace in the Middle East, a pro-Israel group. Perry Lafferty
Perry Francis Lafferty (October 3, 1917 – August 25, 2005) was an American television producer and network television executive who produced several television programs, including the CBS programs ''All in the Family'', '' M*A*S*H'', '' Maude'' and ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show''. With NBC, he produced the 1985 television movie '' An Early Frost'', one of the first dramatic films to deal with the subject of HIV/AIDS. Early years Lafferty was born in Davenport, Iowa on October 3, 1917. Eddie Lawrence (born Lawrence Eisler; March 2, 1919 – March 25, 2014) was an American monologist, actor, singer, lyricist, playwright, artist, director and television personality, whose comic creation, "The Old Philosopher", gained him a cult following for over five decades. Early career Born Lawrence Eisler in Brooklyn, New York, he began performing at the end of The Great Depression. As a young man, he gained a minor reputation as an original comic/ raconteur who performed bizarre elocution of whimsical free verse in small clubs in the New York area as well as on the "borscht belt" circuit in the Catskills. His first confirmed radio broadcast was on ''Major Bowes Amateur Hour'' in 1943, where he did World War II-themed comic impressions of Charles Boyer, Ronald Colman, Roland Young and Clem McCarthy. Max Wilk (July 3, 1920 – February 19, 2011) was an American playwright, screenwriter and author of fiction and nonfiction books. In all, Wilk was the author of 19 books, four films, three produced plays as well as many TV shows and magazine articles. Biography During World War II Wilk served in the First Motion Picture Unit of the United States Army Air Forces. ''Hollywood Premiere Theatre'' was the original title of an American television program that was broadcast more often as ''Hollywood Theatre Time'' on the ABC Television Network from September 20, 1950 to October 5, 1951. Content varied from week to week, including situation comedies, dramatic presentations, and scenes from well-known plays. Some early episodes were a variety program, ''The Gil Lamb Show''. The series was one of the first anthology shows aired from the West Coast, with viewers in the East seeing kinescopes of episodes. George M. Cahan and Thomas W. Sarnoff were the producers. Robert S. Tom Corbett is the main character in a series of ''Tom Corbett—Space Cadet'' stories that were depicted in television, radio, books, comic books, comic strips, and other media in the 1950s. The stories followed the adventures of Corbett, Astro, and Roger Manning (originally; later, T.J. Thistle), cadets at the Space Academy as they train to become members of the Solar Guard.
