Angel Dust (Faith No More Album)
''Angel Dust'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Faith No More, released on June 8, 1992, by Slash and Reprise Records. It is the follow-up to 1989's highly successful '' The Real Thing'', and was the band's final album to feature guitarist Jim Martin. It was also the first album where vocalist Mike Patton had any substantial influence on the band's music, having been hired after the other band members had written and recorded everything for ''The Real Thing'' except vocals and most of the lyrics. The band stated that they wanted to move away from the funk metal style of their prior releases, towards a more "theatrical" sound. ''Angel Dust'' is Faith No More's best-selling album to date, having sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. It also debuted at number 10 on the ''Billboard'' 200, making it the band's only top-ten album in the United States. Easy (Commodores Song)
"Easy" is a song by American band Commodores from their fifth studio album, '' Commodores'', released on the Motown label. Group member Lionel Richie wrote "Easy" with the intention of it becoming another crossover hit for the group given the success of a previous single, " Just to Be Close to You", which spent two weeks at number one on the US '' Billboard'' Hot Soul Singles chart (now known as the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart) and peaked at number seven on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1976. Released in March 1977, "Easy" reached number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Soul Singles chart and number four on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The success of "Easy" paved the way for similar Lionel Richie-composed hit ballads such as "Three Times a Lady" and "Still", and also for Richie's later solo hits. American rock band Faith No More covered the song in 1992 and released it as a single in December of that year. This version became a worldwide hit, reaching number one in Australia and bec ... Stripsearch (song)
"Stripsearch" is a song from Faith No More's studio album, ''Album of the Year'', and was set for release as a single in November 1997. Promotional CDs were produced and released and the single was added to radio playlists. However, the release was cancelled as the record company London Recordings decided to release their 1995 cover of "I Started a Joke" by the Bee Gees instead. Musical style The song was based on a song written by guitarist Jon Hudson, composed in simple MIDI format, hence the heavy electronic sound. Music video The video for "Stripsearch" was filmed in Berlin during 1997. It was directed by Philipp Stölzl, based on a screenplay written by Billy Gould. In the video, Mike Patton walks through parts of the city. At about halfway through he arrives at a military checkpoint and stands at the back of a queue also containing the other members of the band. When he reaches the front, he hands over his passport for inspection. The man inspecting it finds something wr ... ''Album of the Year'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band Faith No More, released on June 3, 1997, by Slash and Reprise Records. It is the first album to feature the band's current guitarist Jon Hudson, and was their last studio album before their eleven-year hiatus from 1998 to 2009. Background Recording ''Album of the Year'' guitarist Jon Hudson joined the band in 1996, after the departure of Dean Menta. Regarding Menta, Billy Gould said, "We didn't fire Dean because he was an asshole, we didn't fire Dean because of anything, it was just because we couldn't write. And he had already written songs but it wasn't working. He toured fine." In a 1997 interview with ''SFGate'', Gould reflected on the making of the album, saying, "Very rarely were we all in the same city at the same ... It was reissued on January 8, 1998. ''The Guardian'' ranked it as the tenth best Faith No More song in 2014. They wrote, "''Album of the Year'' sounded unfinished and is barely listenable. But one track, 'Ashes to Ashes', stood out. It is a moody rocker, with a memorably anthemic chorus that soared thanks to one of the finest vocal performances of Patton's career." When ''Consequence of Sound'' ranked all 126 Faith No More songs in 2015, they placed "Ashes to Ashes" at number ten. However, a July 1997 live version ... Everything's Ruined
"Everything's Ruined" is a song from American rock band Faith No More's fourth studio album, ''Angel Dust'' (1992), and the final single to be released from the album's original track listing. The single was released on November 9, 1992, and charted at number 28 in the United Kingdom. Music video The music video, directed by Kevin Kerslake, features the band (and occasionally four children) singing, blue screened over stock footage ranging from wildlife shots, baseball games and a wide selection of other clips. The band at times interacts with the clips, like fleeing from a seemingly-giant tortoise. Billy Gould addressed the intentional cheapness of the video in a 20th anniversary Q&A on the Faith No More Blog: ''The Videos for "Midlife Crisis" and "A Small Victory" seem to high concepts and big budgets while the video for "Everything's Ruined" does not. Why was it that the video for "Everything's Ruined" (arguably the best song on the album) was so goofy and easy to produce?'' ...
