The Vaughns are an indie pop rock band from New Jersey. History The Vaughns are an indie rock band from Springfield, New Jersey that formed in 2014. The band attended high school together and began rehearsing together at the suggestion of a mutual friend. ''The Vaughns'' and ''tomfoolery'' (2014–2017) The Vaughns released their debut EP, entitled ''The Vaughns'', in August 2014. Their second EP ''tomfoolery'' was released on October 24, 2015, and the band notes "the main goal in recording ''tomfoolery'' was to capture the raw live sound." In 2016, the Vaughns' music was featured on the MTV show, ''Brothers Green Eat'', and on the syndicated radio show, Little Steven's Underground Garage. Springfield Township is a township in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The township is located on a ridge in northern- central New Jersey, within the Raritan Valley and Rahway Valley regions in the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 15,817, the highest recorded at any decennial census, reflecting an increase of 1,388 (+9.6%) from the 14,429 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,009 (+7.5%) from the 13,420 counted in the 1990 Census. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". ''tomfoolery'' is the second studio EP from the American rock band The Vaughns. Content The six-track EP was released on 24 October 2015, on compact disc and digital download with Sniffling Indie Kids. The Vaughns recorded ''tomfoolery'' at Cannon Found Soundation in Union City, New Jersey with Mike Oettinger and Jesse Cannon. The band explains "all six of these songs re oneswhich we have been playing for the last couple of months ndwe had one goal in mind when recording ''tomfoolery,'' to capture our live energy." The EP is thematically about perseverance, love and relationships, and is described as "six energetic rock 'n' roll songs that have plenty of guitar solos and fun unexpected additions." Arlene's Grocery is a bar and music venue located in the Lower East Side district of Manhattan.
