The Vanishing Soldier
''The Vanishing Soldier'' (Hebrew: החייל הנעלם) is a 2023 Israeli war drama thriller film directed by Dani Rosenberg who co-wrote with Amir Kliger. It is about a deserter soldier who sets out on a journey back home but his situation is complicated when his superiors think he was kidnapped by the enemy. It stars Ido Tako accompanied by Mika Reiss, Efrat Ben Zur, Tiki Dayan and Shmulik Cohen. ''The Vanishing Soldier'' had its world premiere on August 5, 2023, at the 76th Locarno Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Leopard. The film received 11 Ophir Award nominations including Best Picture. Synopsis A year from today. Shlomi, an 18-year-old soldier, flees the Gaza Strip battlefield and makes his way back to his girlfriend Shiri. Ido Tako
Ido Tako (; born 4 November 2001) is an Israeli actor. He is known for starring in the 2023 Israeli war drama film '' The Vanishing Soldier'' and in the 2024 American epic biblical film '' Mary''. Early life Tako grew up in Hadar Yosef, Tel Aviv, the oldest of five siblings. He is Jewish; his mother's family were Holocaust survivors from Poland, while his father is from Iraq. His mother died of cancer when he was six years old. His stepmother, Pamela, is an American-Israeli. As an actor, he served his military conscription as an active artist, limiting him to clerical work. Career In 2021, Tako starred in ', a television miniseries about an Israeli youth group's journey to the German extermination camps in Poland.
