The Undead (cassette)
The Undead is an American horror punk band formed in 1980 in New York City's East Village by Bobby Steele (vocals and guitar), Chris "Jack" Natz (bass) and Patrick Blanck (drums). They were one of the pioneers in the New York hardcore scene. History Steele (then of the Misfits) and Natz had been playing with drummer Richie Matalia as a side project called the Skabs. When Matalia departed and Steele left the Misfits, the trio of Steele, Natz and Patrick Blanck formed the Undead in October 1980. In June 1982, the Undead released their first EP, '' 9 Toes Later'', and were featured on the ROIR ''New York Thrash'' compilation. A few months later Natz and Blanck left the band; Natz later played in Virus, the Blacksnakes and Cop Shoot Cop. They were replaced by Brian "Payne" Aliano on bass and Bobby Savage on drums, and this lineup released the "Verbal Abuse" single in 1983. Bobby Steele
Bobby Steele (born Robert Charles Kaufhold; March 18, 1956) is an American punk rock musician. He is the current guitar player, singer, songwriter, and sole original member of the horror punk band The Undead. He has been a member of multiple other bands, most notably the second guitarist of Misfits (band), The Misfits. He married Diana Viar who joined The Undead in November 2014. Career Steele grew up in New Milford, New Jersey and lived there until 1978 when he moved into Manhattan, New York. The house he had lived in later became the base for Post Mortem records, a label he founded. Steele was the guitarist for Parrotox, Slash, and The Whorelords before joining The Misfits in 1978. Samhain (band)
Samhain was an American Rock music, rock band formed by singer Glenn Danzig in 1983, immediately following his departure from The Misfits (band), The Misfits. Glenn Danzig originally planned Samhain as a side project with Eerie Von. After the Misfits' contentious 1983 dissolution, Samhain became Danzig's full-time band. Samhain catalogs a transitional period in Glenn Danzig's musical career, bridging the gap between the punk rock/horror punk of the Misfits and the dark, heavy metal (music), heavy metal- and blues-influenced sound of Danzig (band), Danzig. Samhain's lyrics were much darker than those of the Misfits, with themes rooted in paganism and the occult and eventually the horrors of reality, as opposed to the sometimes cartoonish ghouls and ghosts of the Misfits. Steve Zing
Steve Zing (born Steven Paul Grecco; June 29, 1964) is an American drummer and bassist. He has performed with Implosion, Mourning Noise, and The Undead before joining Samhain. He graduated in 1982 from Lodi High School in Lodi, New Jersey together with Eerie Von and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein. Zing left Samhain in July 1985 shortly after the '' Unholy Passion'' EP was released. He was replaced by London May and returned briefly to The Undead in 1986. He later formed Chyna and played briefly for Rubella Umbrella in 1996. In 1999, Zing returned to Samhain for the reunion tour, playing the first half of the show on drums, and the second on bass. He later recorded with Son of Sam, which included AFI vocalist Davey Havok, then- Danzig guitarist Todd Youth and former Samhain and Tiger Army drummer London May. Argyle Goolsby (born Steve Matthews; September 15, 1978) is an American musician, best known for being the lead vocalist, bassist and co-founder of horror punk band Blitzkid (1997–present). When Blitzkid disbanded in 2012, Goolsby pursued a career as a solo artist as Argyle Goolsby. He performs with both his live electric band, The Roving Midnight, as well as his fully acoustic band, The Hollow Bodies. Career Blitzkid (1997–2012) Goolsby was born in Bluefield, West Virginia. Mister Monster were an American, New Jersey–based horror punk band, started in 1998 by singer Jason "J-Sin" Trioxin (Jason Heveran), notable for their use of Doo Wop harmonies within Horror Punk, a style the band called ''Boo Wop''. Mister Monster's influences included classic Doo Wop, The Stray Cats, The Damned, the Misfits, and the Ramones. Jack Natz
Jack Natz is an American bass guitarist and vocalist best known as the original bassist of The Undead and a member of the noise rock group Cop Shoot Cop. He has also acted in independent cinema, such as in the 1987 film ''Submit to Me Now''. In 2003, he joined Lubricated Goat, led by musician and composer Stu Spasm, and recorded and toured with them. He lives in Brooklyn, with his attention focused on creating collages, paintings and found object sculptures. ''12 Hits from Hell: The MSP Sessions'' is a cancelled studio album by American horror punk band the Misfits. It was recorded in 1980 but went unreleased. Caroline Records attempted to release it in 2001, but band members Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only called off production and the album was scrapped. Background In August 7, 1980, the Misfits recorded twelve songs at Master Sound Productions studios with the intention of releasing a full-length album. The band's lineup at this time included singer Glenn Danzig, guitarist Bobby Steele, bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Arthur Googy. During the sessions, Only was grooming his younger brother Doyle to join the band, and Doyle recorded his own guitar tracks and overdubs separately in addition to Steele's.
