The Two Gladiators

Gremese Editore, 1998. . Plot The Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius dies, leaving the throne to his son Commodus, an arrogant thug who enjoys fighting as an amateur gladiator. Rome soon begins to suffer from Commodus' excesses, and his mistress Marcia tries to entice him towards a less dissolute lifestyle. In response, he discards her and forces his attentions on a chaste Roman aristocrat named Aemelia. Unbeknownst to most of the world, Aurelius fathered twin sons; it was decided that one of them should be killed in order to prevent future contention over the throne. Mario Caiano
Mario Caiano (February 13, 1933 – September 20, 2015) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, Film producer, producer, art director and second unit director. Career Born in Rome, he directed nearly 50 films between 1961 and 2001 and wrote some 27 films and TV scripts since 1954. He is primarily known for his work on Spaghetti Westerns, Sword and Sandal, Pepla, Euro Crime and to a slightly lesser degree on horror films. Caiano directed (as Allen Grünewald) and wrote the script for ''Nightmare Castle'' (''Amanti d'oltretomba'', 1965), which stars Barbara Steele. Renato Montalbano
Renato Montalbano (17 May 1931 – 18 March 2019) was an Italian character actor. Life and career Born in Catania, in 1955 Montalbano abandoned his university studies in medicine to attend at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, from which he graduated in 1957. He made his film debut in 1956, and he was among the most active character actors in Italian cinema for about thirty years, alternating genre films and auteur films. Montalbano was also very active on television, where he debuted in 1958 and appeared in dozens of television films and miniseries, often in prominent roles. He died in Rome on 18 March 2019, at the age of 87. Giovanni "Nello" Pazzafini (15 May 1933 – 9 January 1996) was an Italian actor who appeared in a very large number of Peplum film genre, Peplum movies, Spaghetti Westerns and Poliziotteschi. Life and career Born in Rome from parents originally from Ferrara, at young age Pazzafini was a footballer and in 1958 he attended the first school for stunt men opened in Italy. Gianni Solaro (born Gianni Lorenzon, 11 August 1926 – 12 August 2006) was an Italian film and television actor. Life and career Born in Rome, Solaro was a character actor in the Italian film industry for about twenty years, between the late 1950s and the late 1970s. During his career he spanned any sort of role, alternating genre films and art films, and notably working with Mario Monicelli, Marco Bellocchio, Luigi Zampa, Mario Camerini, Francesco Maselli and Florestano Vancini. He was sometimes credited John Sun. His brother was the actor Livio Lorenzon.
