The Truth (TRU Album)
''The Truth'' is the sixth and final studio album released by New Orleans rap group, TRU. It was released on February 22, 2005, on The New No Limit and was produced by Master P, Drumma Boy, Kaos, Myke Diesel and Bass Heavy. Compared to the previous two TRU albums, The Truth only found minor success selling 45,000 copies, peaking at No. 54 on the ''Billboard'' 200, No. 15 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 2 on the Independent Albums. A Chopped and screwed version of the album mixed by Michael 5000 Watts was released on April 26, 2005. By December 2005 the album sold about 200,000 copies. TRU (group)
TRU (an abbreviation of The Real Untouchables) was an American hip hop group, with members from New Orleans, Louisiana and Richmond, California, active from 1989 to 2005. Between 1992 and 1997 the band dwindled from a dozen members to just the main three brothers, Master P, C-Murder, and Silkk the Shocker. The group released six albums, incorporating the typical No Limit formula of G-funk rhythms married to hardcore gangsta lyrics. History Master P, his brothers C-Murder and Silk, his wife Sonya C, King George, Fonzo, Calli G, Markest Banks, Daniel Fry, Big Ed, Daria Kelly, Ea-Ski and CMT were credited as The Real Untouchables when '' Understanding the Criminal Mind'' was released in 1992. Michael Anthony Torres Monge (born January 15, 1994), known professionally as Myke Towers, is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer. He was recognized as New Artist of the Year by the ''Billboard'' Latin Music Awards in 2021 and has been nominated at the Latin Grammys. To date, Towers has released 6 studio albums and is co-managed by One World International and S10 Entertainment. Percy Romeo Miller Jr. (born August 19, 1989), also known by his stage name Romeo (formerly Lil' Romeo), is an American rapper, singer, actor and television personality. Vyshonn King Miller (born June 18, 1975), better known by his stage name Silkk the Shocker (formerly Silkk), is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. The brother of Master P, Miller signed with his record label No Limit Records, an imprint of Priority Records to release his debut studio album, '' The Shocker'' (1996). C-Murder
Corey Miller (born March 9, 1971), better known by his stage name C-Murder, is an American rapper. He initially gained fame in the mid-1990s as a part of his brother Master P's label No Limit Records, primarily as a member of the label's supergroup, TRU. Miller went on to release several solo albums of his own through the label, including 1998's platinum '' Life or Death''. C-Murder has released nine albums altogether on six different labels, No Limit Records, TRU Records, Koch Records, Asylum Records, RBC Records, and Venti Uno. In 2002, Miller was arrested in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Steve Thomas, and was sentenced to life in prison on August 14, 2009. Chopped And Screwed
Chopped and screwed (also called screwed and chopped or slowed and throwed) is a genre of hip-hop music and technique of remixing music that involves slowing down the tempo and DJing. It was pioneered by DJ Screw, and became a staple in the Houston hip hop scene in the 1990's. The screwed technique involves slowing the tempo of a song down to 60 and 70 quarter-note beats per minute and applying techniques such as skipping beats, record scratching, stop-time and affecting portions of the original composition to create a "chopped-up" variant of the material. The Independent Albums chart (previously titled Top Independent Albums) ranks the highest-selling independent music albums and extended plays (EPs) in the United States, as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. It is used to list artists who are not signed to major labels. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip-hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Luminate. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965, in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade.
