The Troys
''The Troys'' is a musical group made up of sisters Anna and Lindsey Troy. Micah Goldman also played bass for the band for a period. The duo are best known for the track "Sorry Song", which came out in July 2003. Background and group history Coming out of the Southern California scene, particularly in terms of the independent music played in coffeehouses and other such locations, they made their full studio major label debut with 2003's ''Massaging Your Ego'', which was released by Elektra Records. The duo's pop and post-grunge rock n roll based sound is heavily influenced by the work of the Grateful Dead, a band that the sisters were introduced to by their father. A songwriter is a musician who professionally composes musical compositions or writes lyrics for songs, or both. Tower Records (record Label)
Tower Records was an American record label active from 1964 to 1970. A subsidiary of Capitol Records, Tower often released music by artists who were relatively low-profile in compared to those released on the parent label, including artists—such as The Standells and The Chocolate Watchband—later recognized as "garage bands". Sunshine Pop
Sunshine pop (originally known as soft pop) is a subgenre of pop music that originated in Southern California in the mid-1960s. Rooted in easy listening and advertising jingles, sunshine pop acts combined nostalgic or anxious moods with "an appreciation for the beauty of the world". It largely consisted of lesser-known artists who imitated more popular groups such as the Mamas & the Papas and the 5th Dimension. While the Beach Boys are noted as prominent influences, the band's own music was rarely representative of the genre. Sunshine pop enjoyed mainstream success in the latter half of the decade, with many of its top 40 hits peaking in the spring and summer of 1967, especially just before the Summer of Love. Ta Mara & The Seen
Ta Mara and the Seen was an American R&B group based in Minneapolis. They were signed by A&M Records to capitalize on the mid-1980s chart success of the "Minneapolis sound", which included acts such as Prince, Vanity 6, Sheila E., and the Time. They achieved Top 40 success with the single " Everybody Dance", which peaked at No. 24 on ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in early 1986. Other tracks from their self-titled debut album include the single "Affection", "Summertime Love", and a ballad titled "Long Cold Nights". The album was produced by former Time guitarist Jesse Johnson. The group was managed by Owen Husney. A 1988 follow-up album, ''Blueberry Gossip'', failed to catch on and the group disbanded in 1989. Soul music is a popular music genre that originated in the African American community throughout the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It has its roots in African-American gospel music and rhythm and blues. Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African Americans, African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century. It de-emphasizes melody and chord progressions and focuses on a strong rhythmic groove (music), groove of a bassline played by an electric bassist and a drum part played by a drum kit, percussionist, often at slower tempos than other popular music. Youngstown was a boy band formed December 31, 1998. The band, made up of David "DC" Yeager, Samuel "Sammy" Lopez Jr and James L. Dallas, is named for the trio's hometown, Youngstown, Ohio. Silvertide
Silvertide is an American rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. History Originally named Vertigo, Silvertide was formed in January 2001 in Northeast Philadelphia. At first, the band was signed by J Records, and they released their first EP ''American Excess'' in 2002. Their first full album, ''Show and Tell'', was released in 2004 and produced by David Ivory.
