Sonja Prosenc
Sonja Prosenc (born 1977 in Slovenj Gradec) is a Slovenes, Slovene filmmaker, known as one of Slovenia's most prominent contemporary film directors. Biography Prosenc graduated in journalism and culturology from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana. After attending several foreign film workshops, she co-founded the production company Monoo with producer Rok Sečen. Her partner Mitja Ličen often collaborates on her films as cinematographer. All three of her feature films were selected as List of Slovenian submissions for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, submissions for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, though none of them has received a nomination. Aside from festival awards, Prosenc received the award for exceptional direction by the Directors' Guild of Slovenia in 2019. This is a list of submissions to the 88th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. Nine shortlisted contenders were revealed a week before the announcement of the Oscar nominations.
