The Toy Shoppe
''The Toy Shoppe'' is a 1934 short animated film produced by Walter Lantz Productions and is one of the many with the character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. While the film was originally released in black and white, a colorized version was released in 1984. Plot Oswald works as a toy maker in his shop where children buy his wares or just look at him through the shop's window creating them. A mischievous rat pops out of a hole in a wall, and is startled when he comes upon a toy leopard he thinks is real. The leopard is attacked until sand pours from its wounds onto Oswald who is working under the injured toy. Oswald shoos away the rat by throwing a doll head at the rat. Later that night, Oswald turns out the lights, closes his shop, and heads to bed above the shop. Walter Lantz
Walter Lantz (April 27, 1899 – March 22, 1994) was an American cartoonist, animator, producer and director best known for founding Walter Lantz Productions and creating Woody Woodpecker. Biography Early years and start in animation Lantz was born in New Rochelle, New York, to Italian immigrant parents Francesco Paolo Lantz (formerly Lanza) and Maria Jarvis (changed to Jarvis to avoid prejudice) from Calitri. According to Joe Adamson's biography ''The Walter Lantz Story'', Lantz's father was given his new surname by an immigration official who anglicized it. Walter Lantz was always interested in art, completing a mail-order drawing class at age 12. He was inspired when he saw Winsor McCay's animated short " Gertie the Dinosaur". Bill Nolan (animator)
William Charles Nolan (June 10, 1894 – December 6, 1954) was an American animated cartoon writer, animator, director, and cartoonist, artist. He is best known for creating and perfecting the rubber hose animation, rubber hose style of animation and for streamlining Felix the Cat. Career Nolan first began his career in 1913 as a newspaper cartoonist, then worked for Raoul Barre and King Features Syndicate, Kings Features until 1918. Then, in 1924 to 1926, he animated and designed Felix the Cat. He then moved to Winkler to animate on Krazy Kat again. Nolan went to the Walter Lantz Productions, Walter Lantz Studio from 1929 until 1935, where he animated and briefly voiced Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
