The Storyman
''The Storyman'' is singer Chris de Burgh's 16th original album, released in 2006. The album is a collection of songs with accompanying stories. The original digipack release of the album included two booklets; one contained the usual lyrics and credits, while the second contained stories written by de Burgh to accompany each song. The lyrics of the title track contain multiple references to previous songs and albums from de Burgh's career, in chronological order. Geoff Dugmore
Geoff Dugmore (born 12 April 1960) is a Scottish drummer, musical director and producer. He was a member of the bands The Europeans, and Wildlife. Career Educated at Kelvinside Academy in Glasgow, Scotland, Dugmore started his musical career initially playing guitar. However, he became enamored with the drums upon seeing pictures Ringo Starr playing inside his Beatles records, immediately becoming impressed with the drum set equipment. He eventually traded his guitar equipment with a school friend for a drum set. At the age of 13 he started making demos and sending them to record labels, and also played in cover bands from the age of 16. Signed to the short-lived Coma Records, at age 16 he released just one recording on the label. Dugmore moved to London at the age of 18 with his band The Europeans (Steve Hogarth, Colin Woore & Fergus Harper) and signed to A&M Records. Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of British music company EMI, which owned it until Universal Music Group (UMG) took control of part of it in 2013. It is ultimately owned by UMG subsidiary Virgin Records Limited (until 2013 by EMI Records Limited, nowadays known as Parlophone Records and owned by UMG's competitor Warner Music Group). The Mahotella Queens
The Mahotella Queens is a South African female band formed in 1964 by music producer Rupert Bopape, consisting of Hilda Tloubatla, Nobesuthu Mbadu, and Amanda Nkosi. The group is noted for their distinct vocal harmony sound, guitar-led mbaqanga music, and fast stage dancing. Bopape was a talent scout and producer at the independent Gallo Africa's subsidiary dedicated to black music, Mavuthela Music Company. He formed the Mahotella Queens as the company's resident girl group and the ensemble, often led by the deep-voiced male vocals of Simon 'Mahlathini' Nkabinde, went on to have many hit records during the 1960s. The Queens line-up during this period usually comprised Hilda Tloubatla, Juliet Mazamisa, Ethel Mngomezulu, Nobesuthu Mbadu and Mildred Mangxola. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is a British symphony orchestra based in London, that performs and produces primarily classic works. The RPO was established by Thomas Beecham in 1946. In its early days, the orchestra secured profitable recording contracts and important engagements including the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the concerts of the Royal Philharmonic Society. After Beecham's death in 1961, the RPO's fortunes declined steeply. The RPO battled for survival until the mid-1960s, when its future was secured after a report by the Arts Council of Great Britain recommended that it should receive public subsidy. A further crisis arose in the same era when it seemed that the orchestra's right to call itself "Royal" could be withdrawn. In 2004, the RPO acquired its first permanent London base, at Cadogan Hall in Chelsea. Nick Ingman
Nicholas Ingman (born 29 April 1948) is an English arranger, composer and conductor in the commercial music field. His collaborators include Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Björk, and the British X-factor. Born and educated in London, Ingman moved to the US at the age of seventeen to study at the Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, both in Boston. After returning to London, he took a postgraduate course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His first job was as assistant arranger with record producer Norrie Paramor. While there, here worked with Cliff Richard, the Shadows, Sacha Distel and many more. Peter Gordeno (musician)
Peter Dean Gordeno (born 20 February 1964) is an English songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, who has also been a live and session musician. Since 1998, he has toured with Depeche Mode. He performs keyboard parts in lieu of Alan Wilder, as well as occasional backing vocals and bass guitar. He and Andrew Phillpott went as backing musicians along with Martin Gore on a brief tour called "A Night with Martin L. Gore" in 2003. Kristyna Myles (born 10 May 1984) is a MOBO nominated British singer-songwriter who is currently based in Manchester. Originally from Leicestershire, she came into prominence after winning ''Busk Idol'', a 2005 nationwide singing competition organised by BBC Radio 5 Live.
