''The Sound'' (formerly titled ''Lower Bay'') is an independent Canadian psychological thriller film written by Jenna Mattison. The film is purportedly based on true events. The film stars Rose McGowan (in her final feature film role to date), Michael Eklund, Christopher Lloyd, and Richard Gunn. Filming began in Toronto in May 2015. Direction of the film has been reported differently in sources to have been by Jenna Mattison, being her directorial debut, and by Nina Ljeti. The eponymous "sound" in the film refers to infrasound, which plays a large role in the film. The Sound, previously known as Solid Gold FM, is a New Zealand radio network owned by MediaWorks New Zealand. Solid Gold began broadcasting on 13 October 1997 and was rebranded as The Sound on 1 January 2012. The Sound has a classic rock format, playing "the greatest music of all time" from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The station appeals to an older audience than most popular and rock music stations in New Zealand.
