The Simple Past (film)
''The Simple Past'' or ''Le passé simple'' is a 1977 French drama film directed by Michel Drach. Plot Cécile has just had a terrible car accident. Her husband François got to the hospital while she is still in a coma. When she wakes up, she does not recognize Francois and forgot all the circumstances of the accident. Michel Drach
Michel Drach (18 October 1930 in Paris – 14 February 1990 in Paris) was a French film director, writer, producer and actor. Life and career Drach was born in Paris, France, the son of Yvonne (Vanderheym) and Maurice Drach. His family was Jewish. After studying painting at the Académie des Beaux-Arts, he became involved in cinema as an assistant to his cousin Jean-Pierre Melville. He directed three short films under his production company Port Royal Films, including the ''Poor Man's Soliloquies'' (1951) and ''Auditorium'' (1957), then made his feature film debut with ''On n'enterre pas le dimanche'' (1959), a study on the existential solitude of a black person in Paris, which coincided with the French New Wave and earned him the Louis Delluc Prize. Marie-José Benhalassa (22 April 1940 – 10 October 2019), known professionally as Marie-José Nat, was a French actress. Victor Robert Nataf (18 June 1936 – 4 May 2017), known professionally as Victor Lanoux, was a French actor known to English-speaking audiences for his role as Ludovic in ''Cousin Cousine'' (1975). Biography Victor Robert Nataf was born to a Tunisian Jew from Sfax and a Catholic mother from Normandy. He was evacuated from Paris during the Second World War. Lanoux refers to the name used during his stay in La Chapelle-Taillefert during the French occupation where he lived until the age of 11, when he returned to Paris. He left school at age 14 to become an apprentice varnisher. He worked a variety of jobs, including the Simca automotive assembly line, until he served in the French Army during the Algerian War and was wounded, being awarded the Medal for War Wounded (Médaille des blessés de guerre). Françoise Bonnot (17 August 1939 – 9 June 2018) was a French film editor with more than 40 feature film credits. Biography Bonnot was the daughter of Monique Bonnot, a film editor noted for several films directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. In her first film credit, Françoise Bonnot was the assistant to her mother on Melville's 1959 film, '' Two Men in Manhattan'' (1959). She and her mother co-edited the 1962 film, '' A Monkey in Winter'', that was directed by Henri Verneuil. At about this time Bonnot married Verneuil; she edited three more of his films in the 1960s. Bonnot edited Melville's 1969 film, '' Army of Shadows'', when her mother became unavailable. Anne Lonnberg is an American actress and singer of Swedish descent. Life and career Lonnberg was born in Berkeley, California to a Swedish father. She began her acting career in 1965, starring mostly in Greek films. She has appeared throughout her career in a number of American and French films and television series, but only supporting roles. Lonnberg is best remembered for playing the museum guide and one of Drax's girls in the James Bond film '' Moonraker'' (1979). Her last role was in the film ''The Unbearable Lightness of Being'' (1988), in which she played a Swiss photographer. She has not starred in any other films or series since. The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (, KVIFF) is an annual film festival held in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. The Karlovy Vary Festival is one of the oldest in the world and has become Central and Eastern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe's leading film event.
