''The Shiralee'' is a 1987 Australian television film directed by George Ogilvie, based on the 1955 novel of the same name by D'Arcy Niland. It was originally filmed as a mini series and was shot in Adelaide and Quorn, South Australia.Ed. George Ogilvie
George Buchan Ogilvie (5 March 1931 – 5 April 2020) was a prolific Australian theatre director and actor, who also worked as a director and actor in film and television. He was known for being the founding artistic director of the State Theatre Company of South Australia, and was also an educator. Early life and education George Buchan Ogilvie was born on 5 March 1931 in Goulburn, New South Wales. He had an identical twin brother, Jim, two other brothers, and three sisters. His parents were from northern Scotland, his father a baker and his mother a graduate of both University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen and University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh universities. Raymond Francis Meagher (born 4 July 1944) is an Australian actor, who has appeared in Australian film and television since the mid-1970s. He is notable as the longest continuing performer in an Australian television role, portraying Alf Stewart on ''Home and Away'', having played the role since the first episode in 1988.
