The Shining Stars
The Shining Stars are a pop rock'n'roll group from London, England fronted by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist David McCarthy. A style firmly based in the classic British tradition of guitar-based, highly structured songs in the lineage of The Beatles, Badfinger, Teenage Fanclub, Stone Roses and Oasis (band), Oasis led to Q describing the sound as "imagine if Noel Gallagher made a record with Damon Albarn." In 2011 a demo of the song 'The Hi Life' received airplay support from the XFM UK radio network and was called "brilliantly catchy" by DJ Mag which noted the Stone Roses references in the track. Debut single "The Stars Fall From The Sky" was released in October 2013 and The Sunday Times said it was the work of "a classic British songwriter on a line that stretches from John Martyn to Paul Weller." Badfinger
Badfinger were a Welsh rock band formed in Swansea, who were active from the 1960s to the 1980s. Their best-known lineup consisted of Pete Ham (vocals, guitar), Mike Gibbins (drums), Tom Evans (bass), and Joey Molland (guitar). They are recognised for their influence on the 1970s power pop genre. It is estimated that the band sold 14 million records. The band renamed themselves Badfinger, after the working title for the Beatles' 1967 song "With a Little Help from My Friends" ("Bad Finger Boogie"). From 1968 to 1973, Badfinger recorded five albums for Apple and toured extensively, before they became embroiled in the chaos of Apple's dissolution. Teenage Fanclub
Teenage Fanclub are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Bellshill near Glasgow in 1989. The group were founded by Norman Blake (vocals, guitar), Raymond McGinley (vocals, lead guitar) and Gerard Love (vocals, bass), all of whom shared lead vocals and songwriting duties until Love's departure in 2018. As of 2019, the band's lineup consists of Blake, McGinley, Francis Macdonald (drums, vocals), Dave McGowan (bass, vocals) and Euros Childs (keyboards, vocals). In concert, the band usually alternate among its songwriters, giving equal playing time to each one's songs. Although often pegged as alternative rock, the group have incorporated a wide variety of elements from various music styles in their songs. Oasis (band)
Oasis were an English Rock music, rock band formed in Manchester in 1991.
