Ethelmary Oakland (30 July 1909 – 2 December 1999) was an American actress as a silent film child star. She was born in Indiana and started her film career at four years old. She also trained in dance with Anna Pavlova. In 1915, the ''Buffalo Times'' noted her "portrayer of child screen roles is unrivaled". Her salary in 1915 ranged from $100 to $400 per week (equivalent to $ to $ per week in ). Oakland posed for a portrait by Emil Fuchs that was displayed in public exhibits and a gallery in 1916. She was featured in such Thanhouser Film Corporation's films as ''The World and the Woman'' (1916) with Jeanne Eagels; and ''Always in the Way'' (1915) with Mary Miles Minter and Charlotte Shelby. Kathryn Adams (born Kathryn Ethalinda Colson; May 25, 1893 – February 17, 1959), sometimes credited as Catherine Adams or Katherine Adams, was an American silent film actress. Early years Adams was born Kathryn Ethalinda Colson on May 25, 1893, the daughter of actress Kate Colson. She was educated in St. Louis, and had vocal training in New York. Career Early in her career, Adams "played in numerous types of legitimate drama". She entered films in 1915 after a brief and rather unsuccessful stint in musical comedy. Adams worked for the Thanhouser Company in its early films and had the lead roles in that company's productions ''The Bird of Prey'' and ''The Phantom Witness''. After a number of successful leading roles, she drifted into supporting roles in the 1920s, and, except for a brief appearance in the 1931 version of '' The Squaw Man'', Adams disappeared from films after 1925. Gordon Hollingshead (January 8, 1892, in Garfield, New Jersey – July 8, 1952, in Balboa Island, California) was an American film producer, associate producer and assistant director. He holds the record for the most Academy Award nominations in the Best Live Action Short Film category (20 nominations). Career Hollingshead began his career as an assistant director, with his first work being the 1916 film ''The Shrine Girl'', in which he also had an acting role. Through the silent film era, Hollingshead assisted in the direction of thirteen films, and continued as an assistant director until 1934. He joined Warner Bros. in 1921, where he remained until his death. He produced his first film, ''Morocco Nights'', in 1934. This started him on the path of producing, which would lead to enormous success. From 1934 to 1953, Hollingshead produced 174 films and film shorts.
