The Scream
''The Scream'' is an art composition created by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch in 1893. The Norwegian name of the piece is ('Screaming, Scream'), and the German title under which it was first exhibited is ' ('The Scream of Nature'). The agonized face in the painting has become one of the most iconic images in art, seen as symbolizing the angst, anxiety of the human condition. Munch's work, including ''The Scream'', had a formative influence on the Expressionist movement. Munch recalled that he had been out for a walk at sunset when suddenly the setting sun's light turned the clouds "Weather lore#Red sky at night, a blood red". He sensed an "infinite scream passing through nature". ''The Scream'' is the debut studio album by British rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees, released on 1978 by Polydor Records. Its combination of angular and serrated guitar and a bass-led rhythm, with machine-like drums played mostly on tom-toms, made it a pioneering work of the post-punk genre. ''The Scream'' was met with widespread critical acclaim; it was seen as an original musical development in rock music. The band's innovative instrumentation on the album strongly influenced post-punk, noise rock and alternative rock genres and rock guitar playing in general. Bands and musicians such as Joy Division, Killing Joke and Steve Albini cited it as an inspiration. Background In late 1977, Siouxsie and the Banshees received major press coverage but failed to secure a recording deal. The Scream was an American hard rock band based in Los Angeles, originally formed in 1989 as Saints or Sinners. The band originally featured former Angora singer John Corabi and former Racer X members guitarist Bruce Bouillet, bassist Juan Alderete, and drummer Scott Travis. However, Scott Travis quickly left to join Judas Priest, and was replaced by former Shark Island drummer Walt Woodward III. Scott Travis co-wrote "I Don't Care" on '' Let It Scream'', though he did not actually play on the album. They changed their name from Saints or Sinners to The Scream shortly after Walt Woodward III replaced Scott Travis. Many of the songs on their 1991 debut ''Let It Scream'' were performed by the band in concert before the album was ever recorded. The Cat Empire
The Cat Empire are an Australian jazz/funk band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1999. For most of the band's duration, the core members were Felix Riebl (lead vocals, percussion), Harry James Angus (trumpet, vocals), Will Hull-Brown (drums), Jamshid "Jumps" Khadiwhala (turntables, percussion), Ollie McGill (keyboards, backing vocals) and Ryan Monro (bass, backing vocals). Monro retired from the band in March 2021, while Angus, Hull-Brown and Khadiwhala all left in April 2022. They are often supplemented by The Empire Horns, a brass instrument, brass duo composed of Roscoe James Irwin, Ross Irwin (trumpet) and Kieran Conrau (trombone), among others. ''Native Tongue'' is the fourth studio album by American glam metal band Poison, released in 1993 through Capitol Records. It peaked at #16 on the ''Billboard'' 200, #20 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified gold by the RIAA on April 21, 1993. It has also been certified platinum in Canada. This is the only album to feature lead guitarist Richie Kotzen. Kotzen was hired as the band's guitarist following the firing of C.C. DeVille in late 1991. The album features the singles "Stand", " Until You Suffer Some (Fire And Ice)" and " Body Talk". Rohinton Mistry
Rohinton Mistry (born 1952) is an Indian-born Canadian writer. He has been the recipient of many awards including the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 2012. Each of his first three novels was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. His novels to date have been set in India, told from the perspective of Parsis, and explore themes of family life, poverty, discrimination, and the corrupting influence of society. Early life and education Rohinton Mistry was born in Bombay, India, to a Parsi family. His brother is the playwright and author Cyrus Mistry. He earned a BA in Mathematics and Economics from St. Xavier's College, Bombay. He emigrated to Canada with his wife-to-be Freny Elavia in 1975 and they married shortly afterwards. John Skipp (born May 20, 1957) is a splatterpunk horror and fantasy author and anthology editor, as well as a songwriter, screenwriter, film director, and film producer. He collaborated with Craig Spector on multiple novels, and has also collaborated with Marc Levinthal and Cody Goodfellow. He worked as editor-in-chief of both Fungasm Press and Ravenous Shadows.
