The Reckoning (2023 TV Series)
''The Reckoning'' is a British television drama mini-series that depicts the career and sexual crimes of British media personality Jimmy Savile, portrayed by Steve Coogan, from the early 1960s to his death in 2011. It is based in part on the book ''In Plain Sight: the Life and Lies of Jimmy Savile'' by Dan Davies. The series sparked controversy during its production and was first broadcast on BBC One in October 2023. It received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for Coogan's portrayal of Savile. Docudrama
Docudrama (or documentary drama) is a genre of television and film, which features dramatized re-enactments of actual events. It is described as a hybrid of documentary and drama and "a fact-based representation of real event". Broadcasters' Audience Research Board
The Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB) is a British organisation that compiles audience measurement and television ratings in the United Kingdom. It was created in 1981 to replace two previous systems whereby ITV ratings were compiled by JICTAR (Joint Industry Committee for Television Audience Research), whilst the BBC did their own audience research. BARB is jointly owned by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising. Participating viewers have a box on top of their TV sets which tracks the programmes they watch. Eric Douglas Morley (26 September 1918 – 9 November 2000) was a British TV host and the founder of the Miss World pageant and ''Come Dancing'' TV programme. Peter Jaconelli (25 November 1925 – 15 May 1999), was a business magnate, and mayor of Scarborough, North Yorkshire from 1971–1972. He was implicated in the Jimmy Savile sexual abuse scandal.
