''The Real Damage'' is the second EP by UK singer-songwriter Frank Turner. It was released via Xtra Mile Recordings on 7 May 2007 and features all newly recorded songs with exception of the title track. Frank Turner
Francis Edward Turner (born 28 December 1981) is an English Punk rock, punk and Folk music, folk singer-songwriter from Meonstoke, Hampshire. He began his career as the vocalist of post-hardcore band Million Dead, then embarked upon a primarily acoustic-based solo career following the band's split in 2005. In the studio and during live performances, Turner is accompanied by his backing band, The Sleeping Souls, which consists of Ben Lloyd (guitar, mandolin), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Matt Nasir (piano, mandolin) and Callum Green (drums). To date, Turner has released ten solo albums, four rarities compilation albums, one retrospective "best of" album, one split album and five Extended play, EPs. ''Sleep Is for the Week'' is the debut studio album by the English singer-songwriter Frank Turner, released on 15 January 2007 on Xtra Mile Recordings. The album was produced by Turner's guitarist Ben Lloyd, and recorded between August and September 2006 at the Oxford home of Turner's bass guitarist Tarrant Anderson. Drummer Nigel Powell appears throughout the album, with Lloyd, Anderson and Powell all going on to become Turner's regular backing band, later named the Sleeping Souls. In a 2008 interview, Turner described the album as "a snapshot of pretty much exactly one year of my life". The album's artwork was created by Chris Pell. Reception and legacy Upon its release, the album received a largely positive reception from critics. Love Ire & Song
''Love Ire & Song'' is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Frank Turner, released on 31 March 2008 by Xtra Mile Recordings. On 26 January 2009, the album was re-released as a deluxe version, including the '' First Three Years'' compilation album. ''Love Ire & Song'' was re-released on 21 July 2009 through Epitaph Records, where Frank Turner had recently signed to. In October 2008, Turner released the track "Long Live the Queen" as a benefit single for the Breast Cancer Campaign, in honour of a close friend who succumbed to the disease. Production ''Love Ire & Song'' was entirely written by Turner, and recorded on a farm near Turner's home-town of Winchester. It was co-produced by Turner and guitarist Ben Lloyd, who also contributed electric guitar and harmonica performances. Xtra Mile
Xtra Mile Recordings are a British independent record label based in London, England. The label was founded in 2003 by Charlie Caplowe and they release an eclectic mix of genres with a focus on rock and folk. History The label first signed the artists Million Dead and Reuben in 2003 and subsequently released Frank Turner's solo albums after the split of Million Dead in 2005. While signed with Xtra Mile, Frank Turner has gone on to perform at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and sell out Wembley Arena. On 8 August 2011 Xtra Mile were badly affected by the 2011 England riots, when the Sony Music warehouse that stored their records was set on fire. Since the label's inception it has continued to support and break new artists and bands. Xtra Mile has released numerous charting albums from acts including Skinny Lister and Will Varley.
