The Radioactive Chicken Heads
The Radioactive Chicken Heads are an American virtual band formed in Orange, California in 1993. Operating anonymously under the guise of mutant chickens and vegetables, the Chicken Heads' music is primarily a mix of punk rock, heavy metal and ska punk, a blend the band advertises as "Genetically Modified Punk Rock". Originally formed under the name Joe and the Chicken Heads, the Chicken Heads first established a cult following within the Orange County punk and ska scene for their over-the-top theatrical stage shows utilizing a wide variety of props and costumed characters, all of which tie into an elaborate fictional mythology which serves as the basis for many of the band's songs and videos. Ska Parade, also known as SP Radio One, is a southern California radio show whose goal is to promote up-and-coming ska artists, as well as other types of new bands. The show was created by Tazy Phyllipz and Albino Brown. The show was a part of the Orange County third-wave ska movement of the mid-1990s. In 1998, the Ska Parade was raided by the heavy metal band Gwar, who fought The Aquabats. KUCI
KUCI (88.9 FM) is a student-run college radio station licensed to the University of California, Irvine in Irvine, California. The station is owned by the Regents of the University of California. KUCI broadcasts a free-form format. Besides Irvine, the station serves Santa Ana, Newport Beach, and other parts of Orange County in Southern California. Bim Skala Bim is a ska band formed in Boston that was influenced by the bands in England's two-tone movement, as well as artists such as the Clash, UB40 and Bob Marley. Slow Gherkin is an American ska punk band from Santa Cruz, California, United States. Slow Gherkin was formed in 1993 by teenagers AJ Marquez, Zack "ZK" Kent, Phil Boutelle, and James Rickman. They released their first album, ''Double Happiness'', which was distributed by Asian Man Records, in 1996. They released their second album, ''Shed Some Skin'', in 1998. In 2002, the band released ''Run Screaming'', their final album. The band played their last performance in 2002. They played a reunion concert at Santa Cruz's Rio Theater on June 18, 2011. Link 80 was an American punk rock/ska punk band from San Francisco's East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area), East Bay, United States. Band history Link 80 started in the summer 1993 in the East Bay (California), East Bay of California. In the beginning, original members (guitarist Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, drummer Joey Bustos, bassist Adam Pereira and singer Jeff Acree) played around the Easy Bay as Drano and The Rag-Tags before settling on Link 80.
