''The Race Race'' was a 2008 radio show on Australia-wide radio station Triple J by Australian comedian team The Chaser. It was hosted by Chaser members Craig Reucassel and Chris Taylor (comedian), Chris Taylor, with guest appearances from fellow Chaser member Chas Licciardello. The show directly commented on the 2008 United States presidential election. The show ran for eight episodes from 27 October until 5 November, in the weekday timeslot of 5pm until 5.30pm, with the election of 4 November. It was mostly made up of sarcastic and irreverent humour, utilising candidates' gaffes and other soundbites. Triple J
Triple J is an Australian government-funded national radio station founded in 1975 as a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). It aims to appeal to young listeners of alternative music, and plays far more Australian content than commercial networks. The station was set up under the Gough Whitlam government, wanting to extend the appeal of the ABC to young Australians. Initially broadcasting as 2JJ or Double Jay from 19 January 1975, it stood apart from commercial stations with its lack of private advertising and its fringe music programming. Following a transition to FM in 1981, the station rebranded as 2JJJ or Triple J as it expanded regionally throughout the 1990s. The Chaser
The Chaser are an Australian satirical comedy group, best known for their television programmes and satirical news masthead. The group take their name from their satirical newspaper, a publication known to challenge conventions of taste. The group's motto is "Striving for Mediocrity in a World of Excellence". Founding The Chaser's earliest foundation was a satirical school paper called ''The Tiger'', created by future members Charles Firth, Dominic Knight and Chas Licciardello as a way to "wring as much money as heycould out of their expensive private school" while attending Sydney Grammar. The three then met Julian Morrow, Craig Reucassel and Andrew Hansen at the University of Sydney while working on the university newspaper '' Honi Soit''. Craig Reucassel
Craig Bruce Reucassel is an Australian radio and television presenter and comedian. He is currently the presenter of Breakfast on ABC Radio Sydney. He was an original member of the satirical team, The Chaser. Early life Reucassel was born in South Africa and moved to Adelaide at a young age with his parents. There, he attended Semaphore, South Australia, Semaphore Park Primary School. The family relocated to the Southern Highlands (New South Wales), Southern Highlands of New South Wales, and Reucassel attended Bowral Public School and Bowral High School. Reucassel attended the University of Sydney, and completed a Bachelor of Economics (Social Science) degree in 1999 and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2002. Chris Taylor (comedian)
Christopher Thornton Taylor (born 15 July 1974) is an Australian comedy writer, performer and broadcaster from Sydney. As a founding member of The Chaser, he is best known for co-writing and appearing on satirical ABC Television shows ''CNNNN'' (2002–2003) and '' The Chaser's War on Everything'' (2006 – July 2009). He formerly co-hosted the drive radio show '' Today Today'' (2004–05) on Triple J with fellow Chaser member Craig Reucassel, and in 2007, he wrote the musical comedy '' Dead Caesar''. Taylor also hosted the mini documentary series 'Australia's Heritage: National Treasures'. In 2010, with his Chaser colleague Andrew Hansen, Taylor made a musical comedy series for Triple J titled ''The Blow Parade'', which became the number one podcast in the country, and won the 2010 ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release. Charles John "Chas" Licciardello (born 10 May 1977) is an Australian comedian and member of satirical team The Chaser. He's currently the co-host, with John Barron, of '' Planet America'' on ABC TV and Co-Host of the P.E.P. "Planet Extra" Podcast. Licciardello has appeared as a regular of ''CNNNN'', ''The Chaser's War on Everything'' and '' The Hamster Wheel''.
