''The Purple Network'' ( es, La red púrpura, links=no) is a Spanish neo-noir thriller television miniseries created, co-directed and executively produced by Paco Cabezas based on the novel of the same name by Carmen Mola. It is a follow-up to ''The Gypsy Bride'', with Nerea Barros returning as inspector Elena Blanco. Plot Upon finding that her long-missing son Lucas is alive but is a member of the sinister Purple Network, inspector Elena Blanco investigates about the aforementioned network. Cast Production The series was produced by Paramount Television International Studios alongside Atresmedia Televisión and Diagonal (Banijay Iberia). Release The series was presented at the 71st San Sebastián International Film Festival in September 2023. It debuted on Atresplayer on 8 October 2023, with a broadcasting run set to wrap on 26 November 2023. Carmen Mola is a collective pseudonym of three Spanish writers of crime thrillers. The real authors are Jorge Díaz, Agustín Martínez and Antonio Mercero, best known as television scriptwriters. In 2021, the authors won the €1,000,000 Premio Planeta de Novela, the richest literary book or author prize in the world. Works Mola is known for "ultra-violent Spanish crime thrillers" featuring police inspector Elena Blanco, and has been described as the Spanish Elena Ferrante. ''The Beast'' is a historical thriller set in a cholera epidemic in Madrid in 1834.
