Oscar Whitbread
Oscar Ralph Whitbread (26 November 1929 – 16 May 2016) was an English-Australian producer who worked extensively in television. He moved to Australia in the late 1940s. Whitbread started his career at the ABC in 1956, where he served as the Head of Drama, before switching to the same position with the Seven Network. He was responsible for numerous successful series including '' Bellbird'', '' The Flying Doctors'' and the miniseries '' Power Without Glory''. Whitbread was the senior executive producer at Crawford Productions and also worked in England for the BBC, Thames Television, Granada Television, and London Weekend Television. During the 1970s, he worked as a theatre media studies lecturer, at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, New South Wales. Personal life Whitbread was married to Corinne Kerby. History ''The Canberra Times'' was launched in 1926 by Thomas Shakespeare along with his oldest son Arthur Shakespeare and two younger sons Christopher and James. Leila Marion Hayes (12 January 1940 – 19 January 2025) was an Australian actress, talent agent, radio presenter, singer, drama teacher, playwright, theatre producer and author. Michael Preston (born Jack Davies; 14 May 1938) is an English international film and television actor, and singer, sometimes credited as Mike Preston. Life and career Preston was born in Hackney, London, England. He was a boxer and then became a singer. He appeared on '' Oh Boy!'' and his third record, "Dirty Old Town" (1959) was produced by Joe Meek. He had three Top 40 hits in the UK Singles Chart, including reaching No. 12 with his cover version of " Mr. Blue" in November 1959, before emigrating to Australia where he worked as a nightclub singer. Tim Robertson
Tim Robertson is an Australian actor and writer. Early life Robertson was born in 1944 in Braintree, Essex, in the UK. He relocated to Australia in 1952. He is a graduate of the University of Western Australia (1965). After graduating, he taught drama at various institutions, including Antioch College in the US (from 1967 to 1968), and Flinders University in Adelaide (from 1969 to 1972) where he also began adapting and directing plays. In 1972, he joined the Australian Performing Group at the Pram Factory in Melbourne, where he wrote, acted, and directed plays. Ken Wayne
Ken Wayne (1925–1993) was an Australian actor of radio, theatre, film and television. Career Wayne made his film debut in ''Sons of Matthew'' (1949) and appeared in a number of movies including '' Dust in the Sun'' (1958). Wayne had a featured role as a submarine officer using an American accent in 1959's '' On the Beach'' filmed in Melbourne. He also worked in radio, and was best known for his role as private eye Larry Kent in the series ''I Hate Crime''. Wayne auditioned for the part of Larry Kent, after the first choice for the lead felt through. He played him for all three seasons.
