The Predators (Australian Band)
The Predators are an Australian rock band formed in Brisbane in 2005. It comprises three of the original members of the rock group Powderfinger: Steven Bishop, Ian Haug, and John Collins, and Haug's fellow member of Far Out Corporation, Ross McLennan. As of 2023, they have released one EP, '' Pick Up the Pace'' (2006), and one full-length album, ''Everybody Loves'' (2021). History Early in Powderfinger's days, Bishop left the group for personal reasons, while Haug and Collins stayed on. Haug helped form the group Far Out Corporation in 1997, with singer/guitarist Grant McLennan and drummer Ross McLennan. Powderfinger
Powderfinger were an Australian Rock music, rock band formed in Brisbane in 1989. From 1992 until their break-up in 2010, the line-up consisted of vocalist Bernard Fanning, guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug, bass guitarist John Collins (Australian musician), John Collins and drummer Jon Coghill. The group's third studio album ''Internationalist (album), Internationalist'' peaked at No. 1 on the ARIA Charts, ARIA Albums Chart in September 1998. They followed with four more number-one studio albums in a row: ''Odyssey Number Five'' (September 2000), ''Vulture Street (album), Vulture Street'' (July 2003), ''Dream Days at the Hotel Existence'' (June 2007) and ''Golden Rule (album), Golden Rule'' (November 2009). Ross McLennan (drummer)
Ross McLennan is an Australian drummer, best known as a member of Australian rock band The Predators. Prior to performing for The Predators, McLennan also drummed for Far Out Corporation, a rock band led by Grant McLennan (no relation). He also drummed for Brisbane four piece group Turtlebox from 1995 until 1996. McLennan's first release was an EP entitled '' UFO Jesus Returns'', recorded with the band Turtlebox in 1996. The band had released their debut EP '' Shameless Pop Songs'' prior to McLennan joining the group. He subsequently released an album with Far Out Corporation - '' FOC'' in 1998, and also released an EP with The Predators, entitled '' Pick Up the Pace'' in 2006. McLennan currently plays guitar for the Minnesota Triplets, a Husker Du tribute band and drums in Brisbane band Union Radio. John Collins (Australian Musician)
John Andrew Collins (born 27 April 1970) is the mainstay bass guitarist for Australian rock band Powderfinger since 1989. Note: n-lineversion established at White Room Electronic Publishing Pty Ltd in 2007 and was expanded from the 2002 edition. He is one of the founding members of the band, along with guitarist Ian Haug, forming at their high school, Brisbane Grammar School, as a three-piece. Powderfinger has released seven studio albums, a greatest-hits album, and a double CD live album. After they released their first best-of album, '' Fingerprints'', in 2004, they decided to take a break. During the hiatus, Collins played with fellow Powderfinger member Darren Middleton in his new band Drag on a number of occasions as well as performing with Ian Haug and Steven Bishop in The Predators. Ian Haug
Ian Haug (born 21 February 1970) is an Australian musician and the lead guitarist, songwriter, and backing vocalist in the rock band Powderfinger from its formation in 1989 until its breakup in 2010. He is presently a member of The Church. Powderfinger Powderfinger in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Ian Haug, bass guitarist John Collins and drummer Steven Bishop, who took their band's name from the Neil Young song "Powderfinger". Before the band's formation, Haug had played in other Brisbane-based outfits. The band later sought an extra guitarist, Bernard Fanning, who Haug had met in a university class. Fanning took over the role of lead vocals from Haug, and at the same time Jon Coghill joined, replacing Bishop. Far Out Corporation
Far Out Corporation were an Australian rock band formed in Brisbane, Queensland in November 1997. They were led by singer-guitarist Grant McLennan, formerly in The Go-Betweens. McLennan started the group with Ross MacLennan (no relation) on drums (ex-Turtlebox), bass player Adele Pickvance (from Davey Graney Band) and Powderfinger's guitarist Ian Haug. It was a side project for most of its members, other than Ross MacLennan, as they were in other bands which were in hiatus. The group's name is a reference to the rock supergroup, Far Corporation. In November 1997 McLennan was asked to provide an ambient audio track for a music-arts project, Occiput Hammerings, held at Brisbane's Metro Arts Theatre. Pick Up The Pace
''Pick Up the Pace'' is the debut EP by Australian alternative rock band The Predators. It was released on 1 July 2006 through Dew Process and Universal Music Australia. The EP was produced after Powderfinger entered a hiatus, and several of its band members sought work with side projects. Following the release of ''Pick Up the Pace'', The Predators embarked on a minor tour around Australia, including a performance at Splendour in the Grass, before officially going on hiatus, around the time Powderfinger reformed. Grant McLennan
Grant William McLennan (12 February 19586 May 2006) was an Australian alternative rock singer-songwriter-guitarist. He co-founded the Go-Betweens (1977–89, 2000–06) with Robert Forster in Brisbane in 1977 and issued four solo albums: '' Watershed'' (1991), '' Fireboy'' (1992), '' Horsebreaker Star'' (1994) and '' In Your Bright Ray'' (1997). Paul Piticco (born 7 March 1969) is an Australian music and hospitality entrepreneur. He is notable for managing Australian band Powderfinger and organising Splendour In The Grass. He is also Managing Director of Dew Process, Create-Control and Secret Service Music Company. Early life and education Piticco was born an only child to Fernando and Carmel Piticco in Brisbane, Australia. His father was an Italian immigrant who had relocated to Australia at a young age and founded a construction business in Brisbane and his mother was employed part-time in nursing and education.
