The Persistence
''The Persistence'' is a survival horror video game developed and published by Firesprite. Originally released for the virtual reality headset PlayStation VR in July 2018, the game was released for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One in May 2020. An ''Enhanced'' version of the game was released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S in June 2021. Gameplay ''The Persistence'' is a first-person survival horror game. The game is set onboard ''The Persistence'', a stranded spaceship in the year 2057. The player assumes control of a clone of security officer Zimri Eder. He is tasked to reactivate the ship's stardrive in order to escape while fighting mutated clones which have occupied the ship. Firesprite is a British video game developer formed in 2012 by former members of the Studio Liverpool based in Liverpool. History Firesprite was founded in 2012 by Graeme Ankers as Managing Director, Lee Carus as Art Director, Chris Roberts as Technical Director, Stuart Tilley as Game Director, and Stuart Lovegrove as Programming Director. The studio is staffed by some developers that were part of the original Studio Liverpool when it was still called Psygnosis and the five people in the studio's core leadership team have worked on games for every PlayStation console. A taser is an electroshock weapon used to incapacitate people, allowing them to be approached and handled in an unresisting and thus safe manner. It is sold by Axon, formerly TASER International. It fires two small barbed darts intended to puncture the skin and remain attached to the target, at . Their range extends from for non-Law Enforcement Tasers to for LE Tasers. The darts are connected to the main unit by thin insulated copper wire and deliver a modulated electric current designed to disrupt voluntary control of muscles, causing " neuromuscular incapacitation." ''The Playroom'' is a casual video game that is a collection of augmented reality mini-games. It was developed by Japan Studio's Team Asobi division, comes pre-loaded on all PlayStation 4 consoles, and is meant to demonstrate the use of the PlayStation Camera and the DualShock 4 controller. The PlayStation Camera accessory is required to play ''The Playroom''. If a camera is not present, a trailer for ''The Playroom'' will be displayed instead of the full game. Ted Chiang (born 1967) is an American science fiction writer. His work has won four Nebula awards, four Hugo awards, the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and six Locus awards.
