''The Patchwork Hero'' is an Australian television series that aired on ABC in 1981. First shown in a children's time slot it was repeated later in the year in a family slot. It starred Steve Bisley and Damon Herriman. The series won a Sammy Award for Best children's series. Synopsis Hardy idolises his sea captain father. Over time he comes to realise he is human. Steve Bisley
Steve Bisley (born 26 December 1951) is an Australian writer, film and television actor. He is best known for his roles in the films ''Mad Max'' and ''The Great Gatsby''. On TV, some of his better-known roles include Detective Sergeant Jack Christey on '' Water Rats'' and Jim Knight on '' Doctor Doctor''. Early life Bisley was born at Lake Munmorah, New South Wales and grew up on a small farm called Stillways. The son of schoolteachers, he moved to Sydney just after his seventeenth birthday. After a few years of working in various jobs, he enrolled in the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), graduating with a degree in acting in 1977. Michael Noonan (Australian Writer)
Michael John Noonan (19 September 1921, in Sumner, near Christchurch, New Zealand – 4 March 2000, in Brisbane) was an Australian / New Zealand novelist and radio script writer. He also created the Australian TV series ''Riptide''. Noonan served with the Second Australian Imperial Force in New Guinea during World War II. He moved to England in 1957 but returned frequently to Australia and returned there to live in Brisbane in 1979. Noonan was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 1998 Australia Day Honours for "service to the arts as an author of numerous novels, works of non-fiction, television scripts and plays".
