The Pamplemousse
The Pamplemousse (foaled April 19, 2006 in Kentucky) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and stallion. Known for his speed, he was a contender for the 2009 Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown but had to withdraw due to injury. His regular jockey was Alex Solis. Background The Pamplemousse was bred in Kentucky by Fred and Nancy Mitchell's Clarkland Farm. He is sired by Kafwain, a multiple graded stakes winner, and is out of the Rubiano mare Comfort Zone. Comfort Zone, a half-sister to four stakes winners and the dam of Gr.I winner Stormello, also produced stakes winner American Lady (by Stormy Atlantic) and graded stakes-placed Emmzy (by Eskendereya). "Pamplemousse" is French for "grapefruit". Cherokee Run (March 15, 1990 – July 2, 2016) was an American thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Background He was bred by George Onett of Stone Gate Farm. Founder of Ocala Breeder Sales Company and first chairman of the board. sired by 1982 Canadian Hall of Fame inductee Runaway Groom, who in turn was a son of leading sire Blushing Groom. He was out of the mare Cherokee Dame, who is the daughter of Silver Saber, and Dame Franchesca who was by Frincis S. Hollywood Park Racetrack
Hollywood Park was a thoroughbred horse racing, race course located in Inglewood, California, about 3 miles (5 km) from Los Angeles International Airport and adjacent to The Forum (Inglewood, California), the Forum indoor arena. In 1994, the original Hollywood Park Casino was added to the racetrack complex. Horse racing and training were shut down in December 2013 though the casino operations continued until the Hollywood Park Casino opened in October 2016. The track was demolished in stages from 2014 until 2016 and the area is now the site of a master-planned neighborhood in development named Hollywood Park, Inglewood, Hollywood Park after the former track. Eventing (also known as three-day eventing or horse trials) is an equestrian event where the same horse and rider combination compete against other competitors across the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. This event has its roots in a comprehensive cavalry test that required mastery of several types of riding. Roan (horse)
Roan is a horse coat color pattern characterized by an even mixture of colored and white hairs on the body, while the head and "point coloration, points"—lower legs, Mane (horse), mane, and tail—are mostly solid-colored. Horses with roan coats have white hairs evenly intermingled throughout any other color. The head, legs, mane, and tail have fewer scattered white hairs or none at all. The roan pattern is Dominance (genetics), dominantly inherited, and is found in many horse breeds.
