The Otesha Project
The Otesha Project was a Canadian non-profit that promoted social and environmental sustainability among young people. Founded in 2002, the organization disbanded on December 31, 2015. At one point, the project had affiliates in the United Kingdom and Australia. Otesha used theatre, workshops, cycling tours, and publications. They claimed to have worked with over 150,000 Canadians and trained over 500 sustainability advocates. History Otesha was founded in 2002 by Jocelyn Land-Murphy and Jessica Lax. While studying sustainable development in Kenya, the two women witnessed the disparity between lifestyles enjoyed by many in North America versus those of many Kenyans. Sustainability
Sustainability is a social goal for people to co-exist on Earth over a long period of time. Definitions of this term are disputed and have varied with literature, context, and time. Sustainability usually has three dimensions (or pillars): environmental, economic, and social. Many definitions emphasize the environmental dimension. This can include addressing key environmental problems, including climate change and biodiversity loss. The idea of sustainability can guide decisions at the global, national, organizational, and individual levels. Consumption refers to the use of resources to fulfill present needs and desires. It is seen in contrast to investing, which is spending for acquisition of ''future'' income.
