The Ocean Collective
The Ocean (also known as the Ocean Collective) is a German post-metal band formed in 2000 by German guitarist Robin Staps. Loïc Rossetti has been the band's vocalist since the 2010 albums ''Heliocentric'' and ''Anthropocentric''. History Formation and early releases The Ocean was founded in 2000 by guitarist and songwriter Robin Staps. During the following two years, about 40 musicians joined and left the band until a stable line-up was established. July 2002 saw The Ocean play their first concert at Berlin's now defunct semi-legal Eimer Club. Shortly after, the band released their eponymous demo ''Islands/Tides'', a 30-minute-long song that also constituted the substance of their early live shows. Ocean was a Canadian gospel rock, gospel/soft rock band formed in 1970 in Toronto, Ontario. They are best known for their 1971 single "Put Your Hand in the Hand". The single peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and reached No. 4 on the Adult Contemporary (chart), ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart. "Put Your Hand in the Hand" was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, in 2006. Heliocentrism
Heliocentrism (also known as the heliocentric model) is a superseded astronomical model in which the Earth and planets orbit around the Sun at the center of the universe. Historically, heliocentrism was opposed to geocentrism, which placed the Earth at the center. It is the first part of a double album about the critique of Christianity from different philosophical and personal angles, with its companion album, ''Anthropocentric'', which was released on 9 November 2010 in North America. Intronaut is an American progressive metal band from Los Angeles, California, that incorporates complex polyrhythms, progressive rock, and jazz. ''Precambrian'' is the third studio album by German post-metal band the Ocean, released on 5 November 2007 through Metal Blade Records. It features several guest musicians, including Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Zozobra, Old Man Gloom), Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders), Dwid Hellion (Integrity), Tomas Hallbom (Breach), Erik Kalsbeek ( Textures) and musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
