The Nun And The Bandit
''The Nun and the Bandit'' is an Australian film directed by Paul Cox. It was the first of two movies Cox made based on the novels of E.L. Grant Watson, the other being ''Exile''. Plot summary In the 1940s, two outlaw brothers kidnap their wealthy 14-year-old second cousin, but things get complicated when her chaperoning nun refuses to abandon her charge. Michael Shanley looks after his brothers, Bert and Frank, who is mentally handicapped. Michael asks his wealthy uncle George - who owns a mine - for help but George refuses. Michael and his brothers decide to kidnap Gerge's 14-year-old granddaughter for ransom. The little girl's aunt, a Polish nun visiting her sickly sister, the girl’s mother., gets caught up in the abduction as well. Michael becomes obsessed by the nun and offers to return the kidnapped girl if the nun will give herself to him. Chris Haywood (born ) is an English-born Australian actor, writer and producer, with close to 500 screen performances to his name. Haywood has also worked as a casting director, art director, sound recordist, camera operator, gaffer, grip, location and unit manager. Norman James Kaye (17 January 1927 – 28 May 2007) was an Australian actor. He was best known for his roles in the films of director Paul Cox. Early life and education Kaye was born into a tough childhood in Depression Era Melbourne, as one of four children. His father was an injured, poor Boer War veteran, his mother suffered from mental illness, and both parents were distant. Kaye was taken in as a child by the Norton family, who provided him with a safe haven from the hardships at home. Kaye won a scholarship to study at Geelong Grammar School.
