''The Mystery of Jaguar Reef'' is a radio drama, produced in 1996 by the ZBS Foundation.ZBS.orglink(The Mystery of Jaguar Reef) It is the tenth of the Jack Flanders adventure series. It combines elements of American culture and Old-time radio with themes of pirates and aliens. Plot Jack gets a call from his old friend Carmen (from Dreams of Rio) and is very concerned about her friend, Cassie, who it seems has become a "walk-in" while they were on holiday in Belize. She has left her body and a total stranger has moved-in. Sounds like the sort of problem only Jack Flanders can help with, except he seems to find the new Cassie very captivating. Soon others are changing too - and it always seems to happen after they've hired the genial Captain Coco to take them diving around Jaguar Reef. Don Van Vliet (; born Don Glen Vliet; January 15, 1941 – December 17, 2010) was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist best known by the stage name Captain Beefheart. Conducting a rotating ensemble known as The Magic Band, he recorded 13 studio albums between 1967 and 1982. Dave Herman (1936 – May 28, 2014) was an American disc jockey, popular in the New York metropolitan area from 1972 to 1998. Herman was born in Huntington, New York and was the son of an Orthodox rabbi. Herman began his career at 1410 WHTG in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and then moved to Philadelphia to become WMMR's first rock DJ. His show, dubbed The Marconi Experiment, debuted on April 29, 1968. The first song played on the show was "Flying" by The Beatles over the intro of which Herman recited these words: "Arise my heart, and fill your voice with music. For he who shares not dawn with his song, is one of the sons of ever darkness". He then moved to 95.5 WABC-FM in New York, which would later become WPLJ. The Incredible Adventures of Jack Flanders is a radio drama produced by the ZBS Foundation and Meatball Fulton. It is the fourth of the Jack Flanders adventure series. Plot The series begins with the unexpected late-night delivery of an overstuffed green velvet armchair to Jack Flanders, courtesy of "Venus Velvet" (a person unknown to Jack). Falling asleep in this armchair draws Jack into a sometimes amusing, sometimes nightmarish dream world populated by sky pirates crewing winged sailing ships, winged reptilian "fromborks", mad sorcerers dueling in mechanical demons, tap dancing marsh wizards who assist Jack in his negotiations with the Lords of Death and more. Recording and Writing Thomas Lopez, the author and director, of the drama spent a month in Brazil digitally recording sounds of the Amazonian rain forest and Brazilian cities. He first recorded the location sounds and then wrote the story around the sounds he recorded. More than 20 hours of sounds were recorded by Lopez in Brazil to be used for the story's aural setting.
