The Main Drag
The Main Drag is an indie pop/indie rock band local to Boston, Massachusetts. The group incorporates elements as diverse as folk-pop to orchestrated electronica together with their occasionally oblique lyrics. The band releases albums on their own imprint, Reasonable People's League (RPL Audio). The band currently consists of Maxi Boch (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, trumpet), Dan Cardinal (bass, engineering), Jon Carter (guitar, bass, vocals, keyboard) and John Drake (drums, sampler, vocals). Adam Arrigo and Matt Levitt, both original band members, eventually left the band - Levitt after the release of the second album, and Arrigo after the release of the third. Boch, Carter, and Drake are also members of the post-punk band Blanks. ''Yours as Fast as Mine'' is the second LP album by Boston band The Main Drag which was released in June 2007 on the band's own imprint, Reasonable People's League (RPL Audio), after being in the making for 2 years. The album was able to be financed after the band won the Salon.com National Song Search Contest in 2006, gaining the $5,000 grand prize. Matt Levitt left The Main Drag after the release of ''Yours As Fast As Mine''. Trivia The song ''A Jagged Gorgeous Winter'' was included in ''Rock Band 2'' as a playable song on the disc and also on a Target commercial for ''Rock Band 2''. This helped to bring the band to wider public attention. Nick Ahrens
Nick Ahrens (born November 11, 1983, in Minneapolis) is an American designer and art director. He is a partner in iam8bit, a production company, marketing boutique and artist collective, along with Jon M. Gibson, Amanda White and Taylor Harrington. Career After a career in professional snowskating, Ahrens held a position at ''Game Informer'' magazine for six years. He helped oversee the reinvention of the publication's digital presence, which won a "People's Voice Award" Webby Award in 2010. Ahrens also served as the magazine's Media Editor, where he wrote and curated the monthly "Gear" section, as well as writing regular videogame reviews and previews. He also regularly took on design and photography duties for both the magazine and website. Ahrens joined iam8bit in October 2010, and is currently a partner and art director. ''Rock Band'' is a series of rhythm games first released in 2007 and developed by Harmonix. Based on their previous development work from the Guitar Hero, ''Guitar Hero'' series, the main ''Rock Band'' games have players use game controllers modeled after musical instruments and microphones to perform the lead guitar, bass guitar, Musical keyboard, keyboard, drum kit, drums and vocal parts of numerous licensed songs across a wide range of genres though mostly focusing on rock music by matching scrolling musical notes patterns shown on screen. The ''Rock Band'' Network (abbreviated RBN) was a downloadable content service designed by Harmonix with the help of Microsoft to allow musical artists and record labels to make their music available as playable tracks for the ''Rock Band'' series of rhythm video games, starting with ''Rock Band 2'' (2008). It was designed to allow more music to be incorporated into ''Rock Band'' than Harmonix themselves could produce for the games, and it was seen as a way to further expand the games' music catalog into a wide variety of genres. ''The Guild'' is an American comedy web series created and written by Felicia Day, who also stars as Cyd Sherman (AKA Codex). It premiered on July 27, 2007, and ran until 2013.
