The Laughing Dogs
The Laughing Dogs were an American rock band, active in the 1970s and associated with the rock/punk scene of New York's CBGB. They released two albums on Columbia. History The Laughing Dogs first became popular in the New York underground music scene at CBGB's in 1974. They released two albums on Columbia Records, ''The Laughing Dogs'' and ''The Laughing Dogs Meet Their Makers'' (both reissued in 2009 on American Beat Records), and several indie CDs, besides three singles, "Get I'm Outta Town", "Reason for Love", and "Johnny Contender". They toured extensively with the Patti Smith Group, Cheap Trick, and Blondie. "Get Outta My Way" is in the soundtrack of the 2013 film CBGB. An interesting coincidence is that the first The Laughing Dogs album from 1979 re-used the cover for the unreleased debut album from the band Wicked Lester, that later morphed into Kiss. ''CBGB'' is a 2013 American biographical drama film about the former New York music venue CBGB. It follows the story of Hilly Kristal's New York club from its concept as a venue for Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock 'n' roll and punk. The film uses devices such as comic book-style panels, as well as onscreen text to identify important figures in the punk movement. James Carter Cathcart (born March 8, 1954), also known as Jimmy Zoppi, is an American retired voice actor, script adaptor, voice director, pianist and vocalist known for providing the English voice for James, Meowth and Professor Oak in the ''Pokémon'' franchise between 2005 and 2023. Career Cathcart has been playing with bands since high school, including The Laughing Dogs who released two albums on Columbia Records, Columbia in 1979-80 and has been the vocalist of the Carter Cathcart Band since 1981. James Leonard "Jimmi" Accardi is a musician, songwriter, and music producer. Career Accardi has been in various bands, including, Mud In Your Eye ("Million"- Mandala Records 1972), The Laughing Dogs, and Jimmi Accardi & The Wild Cats. He also toured as lead guitarist for Chubby Checker. Accardi played lead guitar in the band Foxtrot, which backed up Rupert Holmes on his self-titled album (Epic Records) and Eon on their self-titled album (Scepter Records 1975). Trouble Walkin'
''Trouble Walkin is the second full-length solo album released by Ace Frehley (two previous albums were credited to Frehley's Comet). The album features guest performances by former Kiss drummer Peter Criss, as well as Skid Row members Sebastian Bach, Rachel Bolan and Dave Sabo. The album peaked at No. 102 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. The lone single, a cover of The Move's " Do Ya", did not chart. " Hide Your Heart", co-written by Paul Stanley, first appeared on Bonnie Tyler's '' Hide Your Heart'' album, and later appeared on Kiss' ''Hot in the Shade'', which was released four days later. Lead vocals for "2 Young 2 Die" were provided by rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Richie Scarlet. Former Kiss drummer Peter Criss was thanked for his contributions which were limited to backing vocals on "Hide Your Heart", "Trouble Walkin'", "2 Young 2 Die" and "Back to School". Ace Frehley
Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley (, ; born April 27, 1951) is an American musician who was the original lead guitarist, occasional lead vocalist and founding member of the rock band Kiss (band), Kiss. He invented the persona of The Spaceman (a.k.a. Space Ace) and played with the group from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. After leaving Kiss, Frehley formed his own band named Frehley's Comet and released two albums with the group. He subsequently embarked on a solo career, which was put on hold when he rejoined Kiss in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. Frehley's second tenure with Kiss lasted until 2002, when he left at the conclusion of what was originally purported to be the band's farewell tour. Kiss (commonly styled as KISS) was an American rock music, rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Wicked Lester
Wicked Lester was a rock band based in New York City. Two notable members were bassist Chaim Witz (as "Gene Klein") and rhythm guitarist Stanley Eisen. Originally formed in 1970 as Rainbow, the band changed its name to Wicked Lester in 1971 to avoid confusion with another local band named "Rainbow". Although it secured a record deal with Epic Records and recorded an album, the deal fell through and the band fell apart during 1972. Witz and Eisen, feeling that the band's failure was a result of its lack of vision and direction, decided to found a new band from its remnants. They changed their stage names to Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, respectively, auditioned a new drummer and lead guitarist, and formed the band Kiss by the end of January 1973. CBGB was a New York City music club opened in 1973 by Hilly Kristal in the East Village, Manhattan, East Village in Manhattan, New York City.
