The Last Street Preacha
''The Last Street Preacha'' is the fourth album by Christian hip hop artist T-Bone. It was released on February 27, 2001 via Bone Yard/Flicker Records. Production was handled entirely by Etienne "Chase" Clark. It features guest appearances from Dawkins & Dawkins and E. Doggie Montana. The album peaked at No 33 on the ''Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums chart and No 24 on the Top Contemporary Christian Albums chart in the United States. Unlike his previous 90s albums, this album sees T-Bone moving into a more West Coast sound with visible g-funk elements. At the 44th Annual Grammy Awards, the album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album, but lost to DC Talk's ''Solo''. T-Bone (rapper)
Rene Francisco Sotomayor, better known by the stage name T-Bone, is a Christian rapper. His father was Nicaraguan and his mother is Salvadoran. His name came from being called 'Bones' as a youngster because he was very skinny. The 'T' was "added to give the name a little slang edge." Music career He started rapping at the age of seven at parties and in rap battles. After opening for a rock group, he signed his first record deal. His released three albums on the independent Metro One record label: ''Redeemed Hoodlum'' in 1993, ''Tha Life of a Hoodlum'' in 1995 and ''Tha Hoodlum's Testimony'' in 1996. G-funk, short for gangsta funk, (or funk rap) is a sub-genre of gangsta rap that emerged from the West Coast scene in the early 1990s. The genre is heavily influenced by the synthesizer-heavy 1970s funk sound of Parliament-Funkadelic (aka P-Funk), often incorporated through samples or re-recordings.
