The Last Play At Shea
''The Last Play at Shea'' is a 2010 American documentary film written by Mark Monroe, directed by Paul Crowder, produced by Steve Cohen and Nigel Sinclair, in conjunction with Billy Joel's Maritime Pictures and Spitfire Films. The film is centered on Billy Joel's 2008 concerts of the same name that occurred at Shea Stadium. The shows were staged on July 16 and 18, 2008, before a combined 110,000 fans, and were the last performances ever to play the historic stadium before it was demolished. The film debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26, 2010. The film was released on DVD on February 8, 2011. The Live at Shea Stadium: The Concert, CD and DVD from the show were released on March 8, 2011, by Sony. The film premiered on August 21, 2010, at Citi Field, Shea Stadium's successor, in front of around 20,000 moviegoers. Paul Crowder
Paul Crowder (born 30 December 1962, London, England) is an English musician, who later became a film editor and director. Life and career Crowder's career started as a musician and, in 1980, he joined with Philip Jap as his drummer. Jap was signed to A&M Records in 1981, and he recorded one album, and his 1982 single releases, "Save Us" and "Total Erasure", reached numbers 53 and 41 respectively in the UK Singles Chart. In 1983, Crowder then became an assistant recording engineer at Advision Studios. He was involved in the recording of such tracks as "Careless Whisper" by George Michael, and "Last Christmas" by Wham! He also recorded the Siouxsie and the Banshees live album, ''Nocturne'', on their mobile recording unit. In 1985, Crowder joined the band the Adventures, achieving a Top 30 album and a Top 20 single in the United Kingdom. ''Turnstiles'' is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Billy Joel, released May 19, 1976, by Family Productions and Columbia Records. Production Joel recorded ''Turnstiles'' in part as a celebration of his return to his native New York City. Three of the album's tracks reference New York: "Summer, Highland Falls", " New York State of Mind" and "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)". It begins with " Say Goodbye to Hollywood" (inspired by the Ronettes song "Be My Baby") and also includes "I've Loved These Days", a tongue-in-cheek expression of regret at leaving behind Hollywood decadence.
