The Last Color
''The Last Color'' is an Indian feature film produced and directed by Indian-American Chef Vikas Khanna. The film addresses an age old taboo surrounding widows in Vrindavan and Varanasi in India. It deals with how a 9-year old tightrope walker befriends one such widow and promises to add color to her life. The film is adapted from Khanna's own book 'The Last Color' published by Bloomsbury Publishing. Several students from Banaras Hindu University also worked as interns in this project. Plot The story unfolds in the city of Varanasi, India where Chhoti, a nine-year-old tightrope walker and flower seller, dreams of saving 300 rupees ($4), so that she can attend school. She faces a daily struggle for survival along with her best friend Chintu. Vikas Khanna
Vikas Khanna (born 14 November 1971) is an Indian chef, restaurateur, cookbook writer, filmmaker and humanitarian. He is one of the judges of Star Plus series ''MasterChef India''. He is based in New York City. Early life and education Khanna was born in Amritsar, India, to Davinder and Bindu Khanna. His mother still lives there. He did his schooling at St. Francis School, Amritsar. He was born with a leg deformity (club foot) and wasn't able to run until he was 13 years old. He was inspired by his Biji (grandmother) who loved to cook, and her kitchen became a part of his foundational training. Jitendra Mishra is an Indian film producer and promoter, born in Titlagarh, Odisha. He is known for '' The Last Color'', '' Desires of the Heart'' and '' Human OAK'' an Indo-Italian film co-produced during Covid-19 lockdown.
