The Lox
The Lox (stylized The LOX or The L.O.X.) is an American hip hop trio composed of East Coast rappers Sheek Louch, Styles P and Jadakiss. Each hailing from Yonkers, New York, the group formed in 1994 and signed with Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records two years later to release their debut studio album, '' Money, Power & Respect'' (1998). Despite critical and commercial success, the group parted ways with the label in favor of Ruff Ryders Entertainment in 1999, through which they released their similarly successful follow-up, '' We Are the Streets'' (2000). Jason Terrance Phillips (born May 27, 1975), better known by his stage name Jadakiss (, ), is an American rapper who began his career in the 1990s and formed the hip hop trio the Lox alongside Styles P and Sheek Louch in 1994. The group signed with Sean Combs, Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records, an imprint of Arista Records to release their debut studio album, ''Money, Power & Respect'' (1998); their second album, ''We Are the Streets'' (2000) was released by Ruff Ryders Entertainment, an imprint of Interscope Records. Fuck What You Think
''Fuck What You Think'' is the second and final album by American/Canadian hip hop group Main Source. It was scheduled for release by Wild Pitch Records in 1994, although it is unclear whether the album actually made it to stores. However, the album was released, or re-released, in 1999. Large Professor, one of the group's founding members, left the group before the making of the album. On this album, K-Cut and Sir Scratch combined their talents with Mikey D, an emcee previously signed to Sleeping Bag Records, who demonstrates a raw voice and delivery. The song "Set It Off" includes verses from Jadakiss and Sheek Louch of The Lox before they became successful a few years later. A female emcee named Shaqueen ( Kool G Rap's former wife) contributes to "Set It Off" and "Fuck What You Think." Only one single was released from the album, "What You Need," in 1993. Hardcore hip-hop (also known as hardcore rap) is a subgenre of hip hop music that developed through the East Coast hip hop scene in the 1980s.
