The KLF (also known as the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, the JAMs, the Timelords and other names) are a British electronic band who originated in Liverpool and London in the late 1980s. Scottish people, Scottish musician Bill Drummond (alias King Boy D) and English people, English musician Jimmy Cauty (alias Rockman Rock) began by releasing hip hop music, hip hop-inspired and sampling (music), sample-heavy records as the JAMs. As the Timelords, they recorded the UK Singles Chart number-one single "Doctorin' the Tardis", and documented the process of making a hit record in a book ''The Manual, The Manual (How to Have a Number One the Easy Way)''. Doctorin' The Tardis
"Doctorin' the Tardis" is a Novelty record, novelty Single (music), single by the Timelords ("Time Boy" and "Lord Rock", aliases of Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, better known as the KLF). The song is predominantly a Mashup (music), mash-up of the Doctor Who theme music, ''Doctor Who'' theme music and Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll (Gary Glitter song), Rock and Roll" with sections from "Block Buster!" by the Sweet. The single was not well received by critics but was a commercial success, hitting number one on the UK and New Zealand singles charts, and reaching the top 10 in Australia, Finland, Ireland and Norway. Universal Classics
Decca Gold is a United States–based record label focusing on classical repertoire. It falls under the umbrella of Verve Label Group, owned by Universal Music Group. The label has a new roster of classical artists and partnerships, and was inspired by the historic Decca Gold Label Series established in 1956 that featured artists such as Andrés Segovia, Leonard Bernstein, Claudio Arrau and Dave Brubeck. The label's first album, Emerson String Quartet's ''Chaconnes and Fantasias: Music of Britten and Purcell'', was released on April 21, 2017. In sound and music, sampling is the reuse of a portion (or sample) of a sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, or sound effects. Jimmy Cauty
James Francis Cauty (born 19 December 1956), also known as Rockman Rock, is an English artist and musician, best known as one-half of the duo the KLF, co-founder of the Orb and as the man who K Foundation Burn a Million Quid, burnt £1 million. He is married to artist and musician Alannah Currie, a former member of Thompson Twins. Early life and career Cauty was born on the Wirral Peninsula. As a 17-year-old artist, he drew a popular ''The Lord of the Rings'' poster (and later, a counterpart based on ''The Hobbit'') for British retailer Athena (retailer), Athena. In 1981–82, Cauty was guitarist in a band called Angels 1–5, who recorded a Peel session on 1 July 1981. Lead vocalist was Cressida Cauty, Cressida Bowyer, whom Cauty later married. William Ernest Drummond (born 29 April 1953) is a Scottish artist, musician, writer, and record producer. He was a co-founder of the late-1980s avant-garde pop group the KLF and its 1990s media-manipulating successor, the K Foundation, with which he K Foundation Burn a Million Quid, burned £1 million in 1994. The Orb
The Orb are an English electronic music group founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty. Known for their psychedelic sound, the Orb developed a cult following among clubbers "coming down" from drug-induced highs.
